    Following Cherry Blossoms in Japan

Plan very early, because it does get busy and the nicer hotels will be fully booked months ahead of time. I think we started about 6 months in advance.

Few years ago, we spent a little over two weeks in Japan just following the blossoms.

Arrived in Tokyo and shortly afterwards headed south.

1st set (of 3 in Tokyo).

    Koishikawa Korakuen Gardens

    Ueno Park

    Nihombashi Sakura Festival

    ____________

Get this out of the way. The hotels.

The Tokyo Station (arrival): 東京ステーションホテル【公式】|THE TOKYO STATION HOTEL

Four Seasons Marunouchi (before departing): Tokyo Luxury 5-Star Hotel | Marunouchi Boutique Hotel | Four Seasons

    Hotel Nikko Kanazawa: https://www.hnkanazawa.jp/english/

    Hiroshima/Candeo Hotels Hiroshima Hatchobori: https://www.candeohotels.com/en/hiroshima-hatchobori/

    Osaka/The Westin Osaka: https://www.marriott.com/en-us/hotel...saka/overview/

    Kyoto/Hotel Ethnography: https://www.hotel-ethnography.com/en/

    Nara/Noborioji Hotel: https://noborioji.com/english/

    Hakone/Hyatt Regency: https://www.hyatt.com/en-US/hotel/ja...-and-spa/hakhr

We were able to get a room for our Japanese guide at each of the hotels above except while in Tokyo (where she lived) and while in Kyoto (she stayed at another hotel just down the street).
Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

Ole fkin eco boy must have a carbon footprint larger than Lewis Hamilton’s by now.

Certainly the largest carbon footprint of anyone on this forum, and schemes to ‘offset’ this are very frequently bs.

^Remember it’s policy not just what one individual can do. As what recently happened in the US and Australia.

Voting is critical. Everything starts at the voting booth.

    US.......

Biden signs Inflation Reduction Act affecting health, climate and the economy

With the signing of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) on Tuesday Aug 16, the most significant climate legislation in US federal history (so far) became law.

    Australia........

    Passes a climate bill

Independent MP Dr Sophie Scamps has given her support to the Greens climate trigger legislation:

The science is clear, we must stop burning fossil fuels such as oil, coal, and gas if we are to avert the worst impacts of climate change. It is estimated there are over 100 new coal and gas projects up for assessment under the EPBC Act. We need to ensure the impact from the emissions that these projects will create are assessed and that approvals under our national environmental law are not just a smokescreen that provide fossil fuel companies cover to continue profiteering while destroying Australia’s environment.

The Albanese government cannot have it both ways. They cannot say the climate wars ‘are over’ and legislate our emissions reduction targets while also refusing to act on the root cause of climate change – fossil fuels.

It is time our national environmental laws were strengthened. And the first step in doing so, is ensuring every major project is assessed for its future climate change impacts – our environment, our economic prosperity and our future depends on it.

    Science and continued awareness,.........rule.

Watch, he’ll get bored with the pictures, advice, precautions and little bit of history I’ll share and the next thing you know he’ll be asking for pictures of the two women traveling with me while they were in the hot-tub (more like a pool https://www.hyatt.com/en-US/spas/Spa...kone/home.html )

2nd set of Cherry Blossom pictures while in Tokyo. The 3rd set will be towards the end of the thread when we arrived back in Tokyo.

    Chidori-ga-fuchi Boat Pier

    Imperial Palace East Gardens

    Naka-Meguro Cherry Blossom Festival

Next, traveling south to Kanazawa before traveling further south to Hiroshima. We took different trains to get around Japan while visiting.

A warning/some advice. Get your tickets as soon as possible. But, some of the trains cannot be booked more than a month out. So, if you do schedule your trip early keep it in mind. A lot of tourists and Japanese travel this time of year for obvious reasons and the trains can be packed.

Kanazawa was a real favourite. There is an impressive castle in a beautiful gardens, well preserved samurai houses and a geisha district. I also visited a very charming shrine half way up a mountain.

^part of our schedule years ago.........

There was a slight drizzle while we were at Higashi Chaya Street. So, our guide decided to take us into an old Geisha house where we (and others) were able to listen to some stories and ask questions from former Geishas.

no need to raise the earths temperature by 1C, causing floods in pakistan, conflagrations in california and famine in somalia by flying 20,000 miles to japan for this rather overdone non event.

just take a bus to harrogate in may.

First some news: Japan to lift restrictions on foreign tourists. Tourists will be able to visit the country without a visa, and will no longer need to go through a travel agency, from 11 October.

I didn’t take any pictures while on Higashi Chaya Street, because it was raining. See post 18.

    Kenrokuen Garden

    Nomura Family Samurai House

We did visit the Omicho Market. It is a nice market but I didn’t save any pictures.

    Next week. Hiroshima

^Thank you. If you take enough pictures, you’re bound to get at least one good enough to post. Related to my last post above it’s not even all the Hiroshima Dome pictures below that I took.

Suggestion. If you’re an American and going to be with a Japanese guide during your visit to Hiroshima who lost two relatives due to the bomb, have an answer to the question,………Why?

    A must see.
