I went to visit Kingston, Ontario recently to visit a friend I knew while teaching in South Korea. He was visiting his family in Kingston. I had been there a few times, but didn't get to see much of the place. He showed me around and recommended we meet at the Copper Penny restaurant. The penny (coin) has been out of circulation in Canada since 1981.

This place is known for their excellent french fries.. and boy were they good.

Princess street is a very long street with local shops, bars, and restaurants and it leads down to the St. Lawrence river.

The waterfront has a nice marina where boats and ships take off to visit 1000 islands nearby.

There is a lot of history in this city as it was the original capital of Canada which I hadn't known. I was given a history lesson by my buddy.

A lot of very old and historic buildings downtown which draws a lot of tourists.

Lone Star restaurant here, but used to be a fire station.

There was a band playing for all the folks gathered around.

We took a ferry that was free to get to Wolfe Island which is about 20 mins away. There isn't much except a beach, and a few restaurants. We ended up sitting by the water, listening to a lone musician had a few beers. Kingston is also known for Fort Henry which I didn't get to as I had been when I was younger. It is a fortification site that was constructed in 1812 to keep out a possible American attack as it is super close to the American border.

Walked onto the ferry to get to Wolfe Island.

My camera died about now, so I didn't get many shots crossing the river.

The waterfront restaurant/bar we stopped at for a few hours reminiscing about our time in South Korea and how it has changed in the last five years since I have visited.

Listening to some 'Tragically Hip', my friend couldn't quite believe he was in Canada after six years of being away.

    Great views

Thanks for the pics & stories. The tulips looked great too.

Re: the fries, so it was cheat day for the keto diet? That's ok - we sometimes need cheat days!

Yes, I cheated, but enjoy tremendously. haha!

Thanks... we got a laugh as we went into a Korean market where I saw things I used to buy in SK, like 'Pocari Sweat' (for anyone that knows about Korea), and 'Milkis'.
We also almost ate here at an authentic Korean restaurant.. Gangnam Style.
Katie - My buddies wife is Filipino, so I also learned a few tagalog words that day. lol. Kamusta Ka?
