    Post your new phone

I had a Samsung S8 for 2 and a half years. I usually dont get top of the line phones cuz im not a yuppy, but i did with the S8. The audio port wore out, bluetooth stopped working and the battery wasn't holding up so it was time to replace it.

I told the store that all i want is something as good as the S8. No need for upgrading anything. And I needed an audio port for a headset. He said the 2nd tier line phones are better than the S8 of old. To my dismay, most of the new flagship phones don't have an audio port. That is just the dumbest thing ive ever heard.

So I got a Samsung A52 5G, the 2nd tier Samsung. So far it seems good. I like the matte black powder coat finish. Instead of the 2 slabs of glass that most phones are these days. Its also water resistant which is handy

it is an overpriced "5G" phone for the easily deluded - what sort of technician does not research the product they are looking to buy ? if you had done so you could have gotten it in " awesome violet " which would have matched your handbag

Why were you so dismayed that top of the line phones don’t have an audio Jack, when you don’t usually buy one, because you are not a yuppy?

Not content with posting childish effete language to try and big yourself up, you now dig up a dead word from the 80s.

If you are not sure what to buy, always trust the guy with your financial status in his mind, when looking for advice. Fooking genius you are Backspin.

Not gonna post a pic becuase I can't be arsed.

    I have a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3

The only reason I got it was because it fits in my pocket better. Nothing special about it apart from it folds in half.

    --EDIT--

Here is a pic I ripped off the net, as that is what Backspit done. Thought we actually had to post our own pic.

    Black diamonds? I shit 'em.

The Galaxy A52 5G costs about €460 in Europe, which is €120 over the regular Galaxy A52. That's a lot of money for a smoother UI and 5G, particularly in the current state of 5G networks.

    Show him that vid Mendy.

I have an s8, batteries fucked... preferred it to this s21 tbh, it was a better size, although with the curved glass the screen broke easily but I've broke the screen on this one too. I looked at the mans version of Bogeys phone the fold but it's fragile as fuck.

There's been no advancements in mobiles, I'm gonna try and make this last as long as the s8.

True. My Samsung is about 3 years old and outdated by at least 2 upgrades now but the newer models have nothing I want, need, or that my current phone doesn't already have. It's fucking ridiculous what they're charging too, cannot justify it.

Yeah the s8 was a perfect size. They are all bigger now.. Even this A52 is like carrying a surfboard around

Try doing a factory reset. That might give your battery new life

The sales jockeys usually want to up sell you to the higher end shit. Plus I had little choice because much of the new shit has no audio port. Cvnt

I don't have new phone after spending months examining new phones.

Instead I have a new phone case.

    Post your new phone-img_20220304_212217-jpg

The phone case on the left was purchased in 2017 to accomodate my lovely Mi Max 1

I was flabbergasted in 2018 upon purchasing a Mi Max 2 to find that the phone case still fitted it (with some minor cutting for buton holes.

I was further flabberfooked in 2019 upon purchasing the Mi Max 3 to find that yet again this phone case still fitted the MkIII (major cutting for new camera hole) despite the screen going from 6.4 to 6.9 inches.

I was happy with my Mi Max 3 until I saw the quality of the pics coming out of Miss Lusty Luzon's Samsung. I knew instantly that I had to have a flagship phone.

I spent ages eyeing the sales but an S21 Utra could barely be had for under $1000

I was going for the Ultra since it has a purported 6.9 inch screen

I ended up being tempted by the attractive low price of $175 on a mint (opened box but new) 6.9 inch ZTE Axon 20

The camera turned out to be shit but it actually saved me a wedge since I discovered that the narrow 2.35:1 aspect ratio of this phone (same as the S21) is utter fookin garbage. You cannot read websites like TD in landscape mode because the screen is so narrow. Like trying to peer through a letterbox.

What the fookin fook is going on with these stupidly narrow phone screens. It is not only Samsung. This contagion of idiocy has infected every manufacturer. There is no new phone available with an aspect ratio of anything other than 2.35:1

My Mi Max 3 looks massive side by side with the ZTE. Hard to see from this pic since the screen wallpaper image is not lighting up the whole screen.

    Post your new phone-p1010001-jpg

The solution to my phone woes was to think laterally and not buy a new phone but instead buy a new phone case

5 years from a phone case is unreal. I remember going through 2 cases a year when they were made of hard plastic before the rubbery gel cases.

    Post your new phone-img_20220304_212200-jpg

Now almost 3 years old, this is the longest I have ever had a phone. And with the moronic design language of all new phones it looks like it will be my phone for the foreseeable future as long as it holds up.

The Mi Max 3 has a 2:1 aspect ratio. Ideally I would want a 16:9 screen like the Mi Max 2. I have looked at tablets with LTE as a replacement but they have shit cameras.

    2.35:1 is a total non-starter

^ yeah I dunno. I think it's partly because the hardware is all made by one or two monopolies. And the brands are just about packaging and marketing.

Even these new Chinese brands like "Oneplus" (lame name) and Xiome all look exactly like Samsungs. Why can't someone make something a little different?

I'd say the z flip is different. I bought my wife the flip-2 version when it came out and she hasn't been disappointed.

I have an s21+ and like it, perhaps a little big for most but suits my hands.

As for the Nokia dumb, used to love them but not suitable any longer, since the need to show bookings and covid vaccinations. Phone can replace laptop for many functions nowadays although I still take both on most trips.
