It's a beautiful city - I was lucky enough to be there last year, usually I miss out on it.

Simply a wonderful place, great food, very nice people and the best Gaz in Persia

I did a year or two in Iran split between the Tehran office and projects near Shiraz, Abadeh, and some other smaller places near the Iraqi border. The hospitality and friendliness of the Iranian people towards us foreigners at that time (early 2000's) is something I'll never forget, along with the varied and spectacular scenery. Great food too!

Its a shame they have to live under the leadership they do, for sure TC you spoke with those old enough to remember the way things were pre-revolution and saw the spark in their eyes as they recalled that era.

...I'm one of those who remembers the way things were before I was evacuated out when Khomeini arrived...I imagine that Iranians, for the most part, remain the warm and friendly folks I remember...

The Iranians I know in the free world are mostly well off, highly educated, polite and caring, and whose family saw the writing on the wall even before '79 and got out with whatever they could carry or transfer.

Takes some doing for a country to go downhill for 4 decades, with no sign of relief, so I hope your bucket has a big hole at the bottom, sabang.

Ohh yes , the good old days of Savak , CIA, and Mossad.
Beautiful country. Great people. Great food. They deserve, better than then, and better than now.
I drove up and down 3rd Av. NYC looking for Iranian food and could not find any. all I could find was lots and lots of Persian food restaurants.
Don't you love the subtle power of propaganda?
The sooner you fall behind, the more time you have to catch up.

Sure, I agree with you . And I understand the marketing aspect. but why would there be a difference if not for the demonization of one, and the romanticization of the other, if not for perception management propaganda.
Sorry to inject politics in your lovely thread
Nonetheless . thank you for sharing the beautiful pictures, and found memories of your time there.

PS: a couple of months ago I finished reading, Creation by Gore Vidal for the second time (I had read it about twenty years ago) It follows the life of the grandson of Zoroaster, from Cyrus, Darius, and Xerxes , and his travels to India and Cathay, and Persian relations with Greece. I highly recommend it, very entertaining and interesting reading.
