    Shanghai Pics

In January i was in Shanghai on a wee stopover trip. I took advantage of the visa-free policy where you can get into the country for 72 hours if you have an outbound flight. Amazing city very clean and modern. The subway links he airport to the city very easy. It pissed down with rain mostly

Air China flight was surprisingly great. Modern planes, nice economy seats, loads of room and nice food...

What I found working in places like Shanghai, Shenzen etc.. is that the façade is impressive . . . once you enter it is a different thing altogether. Lifts are closed, bathrooms are missing basins, toilets with no doors etc... The number of times we had to complain about our office not having electricity, water, aircon (always heat, though) etc...

There's no doubt China has progressed massively, but it ain't gold that glitters

To be fair, I haven’t experienced that in the big cities, but outside the cities it is still very rural.

Shanghai is the most International city in all of China - excluding HK of course.. word of caution: Never venture into a smaller city you'd be amazed!
I lived in a Chinese community in Shanghai for a year and had a pretty decent experience, except for the deafening noise 24/7.

Nice pics, I recognize those areas! The Bund is worth a visit.
