    6 days in Malaysia

As the title suggests I have 6 days in Malaysia. Flying in and out of KL. Would it be worth heading to Penang or better to stay in and around KL? Have an early flight out of KL to Mandalay, so will probably want to stay as close to the airport as possible on the last day.

Fly to Penang mate or duty free Langkawi or a Thai island, you must be sick of polluted Citties by now.
There's also some nice beaches on the East Coast of Malaysia well worth a look

KL is ok for a weekend imho

What Dill said. KL is shit IMHO. Penang is quite nice, and Langkawi, of course. East coast, try Tioman island. Comfortable, unpopulated. Cheap piss and clean seas. (But keep that under your hat It's very much the undiscovered paradise.

If you are travelling alone, maybe go and party with some backpackers. I had a good time down Love Lane in Penang with the scruffy fuckers not long ago

The Perhentian Islands will be a good place to party with them and somewhere i've never got around to.

The perhentian Islands are not that easy to get to via the North East Port. Quite a difficult and lengthy trek.

Kl is good for a couple of days. Penang is better. Even going south to Singapore or the border town, is it jahan boror or something, a few days there and a short cab ride into Singapore.

I agree about Penang. It's one of my favourite locales in SE Asia.

I was on Tioman in the eighties. Was very nice then.

I also like Penang a lot.

If you're traveling solo and are a bit of a foodie it would be just the ticket.

The Malayan Trilogy by Anthony Burgess is a great read.

If you're an adventurous eater, for example durian doesn't put you off, look for an opportunity to try out tempoyak. It's a fermented durian concotion that is used for curries or on its own as a dip. I've only had the pleasure of having it at a Malay wedding party. I never cry at weddings but this dish had tears of joy streaming down my face.
    pues, estamos aqui
