    Travel Insurance

    Looking through some policy conditions....

What is insured? ✓ Baggage We will cover you if your baggage is lost, damaged or stolen up to £1,000 per person.

What is not insured?  Loss, theft of or damage to valuables, cash, important documents or personal money left unattended including luggage checked in with an airline.

    Checked in baggage not insured?
Can't remember seeing that before, Would that mean claiming from the carrier?

That sounds reasonable, since you've lost control of the luggage once it is checked in, and the carrier becomes responsible till you get it back.

I'm off to Texas for a family event next year. Any recommendations as to the choice of insuring company? Local or usa based, suggested coverage/type/amounts?

    Thanks.

Yes - the airline is responsible if they lose or damage your bag. This there is an international agreement as to amounts etc.

Too many cameras in the airport Jack, you are better off getting your luggage stolen, your gold nicked and your bum raped on a night out in Pattaya.
