    Manage your Expectations...

With the state of communications these days (internet) being "forewarned" is there for the asking.

It is more a reflection on what people can afford. Wasn't that long ago that the majority of folk were limited by budget to local trips, (American) the neighborhood where I grew up the big thing was the annual family vacation to the Jersey shore. That was the highlight of the family year, renting a house at the shore for a week.

A rich family once actually went to Europe - we talked about it for years...

Today, International travel is cheap and affordable. Almost a typical part of the curricula for a college student to spend a year abroad studying.

Times have changed... cheap travel = vast crowds at "popular" tourist destinations. Truth in Marketing, photoshop the crowds out.

And, of course, our favorite is the Thai Maya Beach - go Leo

Indeed. Honestly traveling off the beaten path is far more enjoyable and rewarding. I avoid tourist destinations due to the hordes of people and over priced everything. Travel mags are almost to the point you can consider them false advertisements. Few ever enjoy what they show.
