You were worried about Photobucket? Pictures look great but I think you also have an eye for composition.

Funny you'd have so much worry free time. That's great. You must be so well qualified for your position as to be supremely confident. I can't imagine a high tech job w/o just a fcuking shit load of stress.

So on to Dubai in a month? Is this a contractual position or are you an employee? (sorry if this is repetitive).
“The Master said, At fifty, I knew what were the biddings of Heaven. At sixty, I heard them with docile ear. At seventy, I could follow the dictates of my own heart; for what I desired no longer overstepped the boundaries of right.”

I'm in Istanbul for just one week, and I fly to Dubai on Friday to be a resident there.
It's a long term contract, directly employed by the company.

We have a lot of work to get through with product testing for the the regional reps and trainers, but they really are a great bunch of guys, very supportive and they appreciate my input into the team... they're mostly expats and have experienced all the pitfalls before me, so my boss for instance has been able to tick all the boxes in advance for me to make things go a smooth as possible, plus it's a bloody huge company with very deep pockets... I feel I deserve it after all the hard work, but I'm also sure to count my blessings. Cheers and I'm glad you enjoy the photos, the quality isn't great as I only have the basic camera, but I hope to improve on that. And yes, not too much stress.. that's not healthy
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!"

Yeah, man, I'm going to enjoy reading about Dubai. Was considered (and rejected) for a couple of potential contracts to teach English to Saudi Arabian Air Force cadets. Doubt I would have gone anyway, as teaching English was a short time career (if I could even call it that). But the money is big in those oil rich ME countries.

    Have fun besides.

Good luck with everything, Neo, and enjoy your time there.

I love the first 3 photos in your reply #75. They would make great paintings, IMHO. A project for Nigel, Nooners or Blue, perhaps.

I've had reading this thread on my to-do list and finally got round to it.

Very informative and entertaining. And kudos for making such a life-affirming career move.

Yet I feel cold, perturbed and somewhat short-changed.

Where are all the fucking kebab pics, man?

You know what... I'm glad to hear it, I don't have to blow my own bumpet.. life has been fooking brutal at times, and I'm at an age where it could have gone either way, but by building slowly and surely over time it has paid off and in the last year I've had the opportunity to give inspiration to a lot of young lads just starting out in a similar position to my own at their age.. it's nice to think we are here for a reason, that there is some higher meaning to our lives.. even if that is only to make a small difference in the grand scheme of things. I wish you every success in your new endevour, with a little faith and some self belief anything is possible... you have already done well, but there is no reason to rest on your laurels... we must see just how far we can take this journey, we are privileged simply by having the opportunity to try.

Obviously you are confident with your invention it must be good if you are going to patent it.

Does it have unique selling points that differentiate it from competition?
eg Accuracy, ease of use, quick results, price point etc.

What is your target market? Is it aimed at Law enforcement/Govt agencies? etc
Can it be brought to the market quickly?

You are obviously a very smart guy, and I wish you the best of luck.

LOL...I thought possibly too much Turkish coffee, baklava and Sambuccas.

After the film Midnight Express I wouldn't venture near any drug in Turkey...ever.

The most work put into preparing a patent application is actually studying what similar products are already out there called prior art.

To actually design and manufacture something is quite easy mate especially as I will be replacing my existing product with a far better version with new features.

I also just received notification that my US Patent for the urine drug test device has been deemed as being novel and inventive and has been published. That follows acceptance by the European Union Patent Treaty examiners a month ago.

I'm checking out of the hotel in the morning so a quick walk around the block.. not a pretty neighbourhood, very industrial and residential, but anyway...

    Always traffic...

a lot of the apartment buildings damaged by the earthquake are being replaced..

not sure what this model is.. a Zodiac perhaps.?

I think Betty might be able to shed a little light on this from his last visit to Istanbul..

Right.. off out for another round of food and drink. Starting to feel a little toxic, but I'm flying out to the sand pit tomorrow to sweat all the badness out
