    Thai Park Berlin

We have a nice park here with the official name Preussen Park. I visited it yesterday.

Some joker tried to dress up the Borussia Statue with a T-Shirt, but it fitted only over her helmet.

But that park is known as the Thai Park now. Thai congregate there for a snack and some gambling. This was a special occasion. 150 years diplomatic relations between Thailand and Germany were celebrated with some program.

When I arrived all the Thai were standing straight in attention. I believe it was the National Anthem, that was played as opening of the program.

The first performers were Thai and Thai/German students living in Berlin.

The one in the middle is probably Thai, the one on the left is maybe half Thai.

There was plenty of food, of course.

This was deep fried fish paste with some very tasty herb I don't know - delicious.

Fried fish, I prefer it freshly fried, not cold so I passed. Otherwise it looked fine.

The fish vendor complained, that I took a photo of the fish, not of her, so here she is.

After seeing how Somtam is prepared, I decided to try it.

    The Somtam lady busy preparing.

    Her helper cutting the Papaya.

The chilies. The Thai customer asked to double the chilies, after only five got into the mix. I decided, four or five is enough and did not ask for an enhancement.

    Another ingredient going in.

It was quite spicy but nice enough, next time I would ask to skip the sugar, it was too sweet.

    More to come soon.

    Enjoy.

Next are the dances and singing. No comment for them.

The dancers were given lots of those garlands. They were given out for a donation to their school. The garlands were constantly recycled back from the dancers to the donation collecting stand, many times over.

Some of the visitors in front of the stage.

Some of them dancing to the songs.

    Children slightly less enthusiastic.

Some more photos of the artists, off stage. I could get much closer to them while they were relaxing.

I really pitied them. It was a very cool day. 12°C max. and getting cooler fast in the afternoon. The poor Thai girls from Bangkok were COLD and tried somehow to keep from freezing between performances. And yet they were willing to smile for the camera.

    That's all.

Few of us get more beautiful with age. Most of them have spent half a life here. There were some cuties but most of them not too near the stage where I took my photos.

BTW while preparing these photos I was wondering about the quality. I did some tests and put that into a photography forum. I was told that the quality is unexplicably poor and I should consider sending it for repair urgently.

Which one of the two names I mentioned in the first two lines of my first post do you mean?

Preussen Park or Thai Park, your choice.
