My Rats died, should I kill again?

I went over to the farm a couple of days ago, opened my table drawer and out jumped a rice rat with seven kiddies suckling on her - the whole lot fell on the floor, the mother rat ran off. I kicked the kiddies into the pond (just below) and they could actually swim, for a bit

The drawer was full of bits of chewed up paper and leaves all made up into a cute nest

I then saw the mother run out along a papyrus branch that was dipping into the water and fish out one of her babies and carry it back to land

    the rest vanished

I felt quite sorry for the whole mess but I just acted automatically, without thinking of the consequences

    would you kill so cruelly?
    I have reported your post

Trying to connect to your Buddhist roots are you Dr. Andy?

There are mice and then there are rats and rats carry diseases.

Don't think Buddha would critical of snuffing rats.

    I stand corrected.

Driving thru parts of Suphanburi and even thru Issan - Route 24, one can see these stands alongside the road selling rat meat. I joke with the missus when we're hungry and see one of those stands we should stop and get a fried rat sandwitch - extra mustard, no charge?

    ...haven't indulged as yet.

Caught a couple of rats in my house recently with one of those "glue-pad" traps.

I drowned them in a bucket of water, and then felt a bit of a bastard about it for some reason.

alright, I admit it, I am a serial rat killer

i don't enjoy it but I also don't want to share my living space with them

I have eaten them, unlike some of you bystanders, and they were tasty but a bit tough. They were just BBQ'd; I reckon they would be good slowly cooked in red wine and served with ratatouille

    gotta be done but....

better than the way my driver in jakarta behaved; we caught a big bugger rat in a wire trap cage. He took the cage outside and poured boiling water on the rat

I've eaten rat in Thailand, but, they looked more like mini capybara rather than your traditional rat. It was nice. Gamey.

I know people who keep pet rats and there is an intelligence behind those black eye's. I don't think she's going to forgive or forget.. I think you've created a potential stalker there.

To my wife's great annoyance; I've not got much of a problem about killing pests. I ask myself, is it necessary? If it is the only obligation is to make sure its quick, clean and distress free death for the animal. Although I have to admit that I have broken this rule with some of the biological control agents I've used recently; but thats nature at work isn't it.

buggers made a nest under the engine cowling on my mu7, they then chewed through the rubber fuele line, every night they came back, and made another nest somewhere under the bonnet,

put down some of that glue on a plate (k rat)under the car, my misses laughed, said they wouldnt fall for such an obvious trap,
so with the dogs in the day and the glue at night,

the little shits chewed escape holes (2) between the bonnet and the screen

got 3 of the babbies in the glue though, i hated that, but they were eating my fekin car.
i used the car every day so they must of sat it out for the trips
life is what happens to us while we are making other plans

^I've got three cats that live in the garage. The only evidence I ever see of local rats is the occasional head or tail they didn't bother to eat

Yeah, once I moved to a house, I got a couple of cats; the male cat brought in a massive live rat a couple of weeks ago - he occasionally let it go so he could have fun chasing it around the bedroom...
