    combine our brain power.

i'm an old farang with a luk krung, coming up 6yrs old. i put a very good income in place for the kid, years back, all lost by the mother, at the time i regarded the idea i had as a good one, never allowing for the simple mindedness of the mother, still a sound preposition if all parties are on board.

now the answer i'm looking for is what would u do/put in place for your kid that would be thai proof. after your demise.

Any property you have, or intend to buy register in the kids name....that is have only their name on the deed....can not be sold until they are twenty years old...
    by anyone...

i have done it on two occasions...in 2010 and again 2011....it's a simple transaction the same as any transfer...no extra costs....
i am just the nowhere man...
    living in the nowhere land...
    forever...

And try to Thai-proof the kid with a good education .....though even at 20 many kids are pretty silly, and spendthrifts.

Nah, 35 would be safer but to be absolutely sure I'd probably make it 40 or so.

Sound advice this one, Jesus a Thai kid would go mad with the money available to him at that age.

More than likely sell it up and go on a massive bender but that could happen at whatever age he gets it.

Same as in the West innit.

I don't think anything is Thai proof. One way or other, if he/she has a mind, they will find a way to work around things. They're survivors.

It depends on where you assets are held.

I looked into this when I was married to a Thai, to make sure that she had access to income from my wealth while she was alive, but to also make sure that my Australian daughter would benefit, rather than her family, when she passed.

    For example:
The income generated by my assets back home would go to my wife while she was still alive. Then when she dies, the income generated by them, will then pass to my daughter and later to any children that she has.
The trust can survive for 99 years, passing income to any subsequent descendants.
Then after 99 years, be split up amongst any surviving descendants or donated to charity, or whatever else you decide.
Maybe you will want the trust slowly wound down over a shorter period by annually passing a percentage of the assets, as well as the income.
That's what's good about trusts. They can be created to do what you want.

Problem with any Thai assets is that trusts are not recognized by Thai law ( unless things have changed during the last 10 years)
