    Best Breakfast

The best hotel breakfast I have ever enjoyed was the buffet at the Park Lane Hilton in London and the best restaurant brekkie was at this little hole in the wall in St. Pauls in Bristol.

They also told me there was a knocking shop out the back but the snags in the restaurant were just fine.

A full Aussie breakfast would be the usual (back) bacon and eggs plus fried tomato with toast, orange juice and tea or coffee; -- plus, sausages, a lamb chop, and a thin slice of tenderized steak. Sometimes called a "mixed grill".

It wasn't the 'Black and White cafe' you visited by any chance?

Now we get the yank, who upon reflection realizes that one breakast would really perk you up. Now you Brits might wretch.

Here we have Huevos Rancheros, Mexican breakfast direct from photobucket. Two fried eggs not deep fried on tortillas covered with cheese, pinto beans not smashed but nice, and a serving of very dry Mexican rice. You would have your choice of flour or corn tortillas to wrap the food in like toast, and then both a hot red sauce, a hot green sauce, and then a medium salsa made from tomatoes, onions, corriander, lime, garlic, chiiles and what ever you like.

Miss it so much here. Just a quick trip to the Mission district on a Sunday AM brought great relief all those many year ago.

    Not really.

It just looks like the sort of thing a monkey would try to do after seeing a real breakfast for the first time in their life.

So I found out later mate.

A mate and I had just driven up from Wales and he took the wrong turn and we got lost.

My other mate, who we were supposed to meet was on the phone and when I told him what we were parked in front of he told us to get back in the car and lock the doors.

Then we were surrounded by all these black people, then my mate arrived in his van and escorted us to this seedy looking restaurant which had the best brekkie one could hope for.

Nothing extravagant, just delicious sausages, bacon, beans and eggs with fresh bread and a superb cup of tea.

No idea of the name of the place but he did say there was a knocking shop at the rear.
