Thread: Have you ever fallen in love with a bar girl?

I could very easily fall for a bar girl and the only reason i wouldn't is because they have to be very good at acting, for instance pretending to like somebody and enjoy there company, laugh and smile with you when deep down they think your ugly or obese or too skinny or no muscles or hate beards or big beer bellies, but they are so good at acting you actually believe they enjoy your company, while we all know its our baht they want and not us, how could you ever be sure its actually you they want to be with and not just to get married for your baht. I suppose when you have been together for years and are still together happy you will have your answer.

Stereotyping all bar girls, you might as well give yourself a good knock in the balls. For every crazy opinion such as yours, there are others that have been married for 20 years. One of the best farangs I know has been married to a bar girl for 28 years and he is still as happy as the day he met her. She takes damn good care of him and they are happy with each other. That is what matters the most. If you have to run around guessing is it you or money, you just don't get Thai girls.

Of course he is still married to her and happy as the day they met, reckon i would be too.

I'll try to keep this answer civil.

1. Yes, I did fall in love wih a bargirl. Twice.
2. The first one, in Vietnam I was married to for 2 years. In 1975 she wasn't able to get out of the then Saigon and was put into a communist "re-education camp" where she died about 1977...I've never been able to establish exactly when she died and the current Vietnamese government can't or won't tell me the date.
3. In 1978 I met a girl in a bar in Bangkok. It took me two years to get her in bed with me. She said in 1978 that she was just a "friend" and that if she ever decided to sleep with me it would have to be permanent. In 1980 she made up her mind, quit the bar (she had 3 children by a previous marriage and a husband who "ran away" from her for another woman), so I understood even then why she didn't trust "men".
4. Now it's 31 years later and she is still with me as my wife. I'm guessing it will probably last. (I'm now 65 and she is 62)
5. Yes, I realise I'm incredibly lucky to be a winner like that twice in my lifetime. I'm fully aware that damn few "bargirl" stories end like mine did.

So, I guess the lesson is this: just don't assume how things always are, unless you know them to be that way yourself.

i know a couple of guys very happily married to ex hookers.

one was taken back to the states and she is now a multimillionairess in her own right due to the success of her own asian food business. she supplies restaurants. the man she married was piss poor and lived in a trailer. she really loved the guy though. my wife used to translate letters between them. she keeps offering to fly us over first class to the states to visit them.

a couple of other success stories too.

i would never tell someone to preclude a bargirl as a suitable partner just because they were a bargirl. plenty of horror stories from the other side of the tracks too.
