Has the rainy season come early this year?

A few nights of rain and now a down pour. What the heck is going on?

    It is not April.

Last rain at home (sth Sa Kaeo) 20 November; am in Penang this week and each evening since Mon has pissed down about an hour from 6pm-ish, if I'd been home would have been standing in the rain, singing even, but maybe not in Malaysia. No sense of humour.

I was stuck in the Bangkok factory guardhouse for about an hour yesterday morning because of the torrential downpour.

Then my wife called me and said it was belting down in Pattaya about 2 hours later.

What is happening with the weather, I along with most others have no idea but we do need more rain.

The key is that it has not gotten hot yet. We are looking at 7+ weeks of cooler weather. I have never seen this before. When the hot hits its going to knock us for a loop that is for sure.

It lasted an extra six weeks in the south (it finally finished up last week)- the rest of you are welcome to it.

Here is a warm front !
Periodic weather variations over decades are normal .
If one believes the " career Meteorologists " ( too thick to go to University to study Maths , Maths and Physics ) , but has a good face on telly...
Or , One believes in the " Tourism Marketers " - Weather is always good when on a freebie with Punters .
Or Politicians who find good weather wherever someone pays their hotel bills .
Or " It Never rains in California "

Phuket MET: January 2011 wettest on record
    Saturday, February 12, 2011
PHUKET: Last month was the rainiest January on record in Phuket, the Meteorological Department (MET) has confirmed.
A meteorologist at the Southern Meteorological Center (West Coast) at Phuket International Airport told the Gazette this afternoon that his station recorded about 77mm of rain at both MET monitoring stations on the island.
This amount was about twice the mean annual rainfall at Phuket Airport (35.9mm) and more than three times that at the monitoring station on Thalang Road in Phuket Town (21.7mm), statistics reveal.
The researcher, who asked that his name not be used, attributed the unusually heavy rains to La Niña effects, when sea surface temperatures across the equatorial Eastern Central Pacific Ocean are lower than normal.
La Niña tends to strengthen monsoon conditions in the Andaman Sea, bringing unseasonably heavy rains during Phuket’s driest month, he said.
It is the same effect responsible for the devastating floods in Australia’s State of Queensland, he added.
The continuing effect of La Niña would likely make the next few months wetter than average in Phuket, he added.

Oh Great , let us blame el Nino e.t.c. Weather Cycles happen over hundreds of years . If one knows that the weather is GOOD then why not fly ? But if one is not sure then stay on the ground . OOps forgot the PROFIT !!!
Not off the thread ... I keep flying 'cos I'm not rained off !!

Lovely downpours (2 of them) and then another bout of light drizzle later on here today. But when the sun came out the humidity was insane.

Most unseasonal. The rainy season was predicted to arrive early this year, but this is weird! Winds from the south bringing hot and humid air. Looks to continue for the next few days as well. The forecast says that there's no more rain coming, but then they said it wouldn't rain today either.
"Slavery is the daughter of darkness; an ignorant people is the blind instrument of its own destruction; ambition and intrigue take advantage of the credulity and inexperience of men who have no political, economic or civil knowledge. They mistake pure illusion for reality, license for freedom, treason for patriotism, vengeance for justice."-Simón Bolívar
