Extreme acts when out of cash, add yours (but stealing doesn't count)

Lost my visa card in an unfortunate accident on a boat in northern Greece - it was in my polo shirt pocket , leant over the side to help a diver on board and it did a 'deep six ' on me
was going to pay my hotel bill for the week that night but only had a pocketfull of loose drachma !
With the four days reporting and verifying details Visa told me it would be another week before a new card could be sent out .
Hotel landlord was very sympathetic and as he knew me ( I had been living there for 6 weeks or more ) and he would cancel the months bill if I would help his 21 year old daughter with her revision for her upcoming English oral exam at her university.
There were two interpretations of this request - His - and mine and his daughters !!!
Previously we had spoken in the hotel lobby and had a few surreptitious gropes :)

My goodness !

I was allowed 2 hours a day with her without a female watch dog
The things you have to do when you are out of cash and need help !

Arrived in Bangkok from Hong Kong once with only a ticket to London, 500 baht and a new Ricoh camera. Didn't want to go to England in November so took a bus to Thermaes and hunkered over a beer pondering my limited options. Met a girl I knew well who was flush and wanted to buy the camera. That bought in 2500 baht. Later , wrote a few lurv letters for several girls for free beers and a plate of food. Went home with the camera girl and spent the night with her.

Next day, wandering down Rama 4 , met a taxi driver I vaguely knew and we spent the rest of the day visiting jewelry stores where I pretended to be a customer then we split the commision. That was a few more baht in the kitty so I moved into a dump in Soi Ngam Duplee.

A couple of days later , I finaly hit rock bottom when walking past ECC ( which then had just the 1 branch ) and got a job teaching English, to my eternal shame.
If I ever have to stoop so low again I think I'd rather end it all.

I don't know if this is still the case, but in those days when Thai tourism was in its infancy, jewelry stores would pay taxi drivers a hundred or so baht for every customer a taxi driver persuaded into their premesis , regardless of whether the bought anything or not. Obviously, you couldn't turn up , grab the commision and scoot and a certain amount of acting the part was required but as they say ,

' Sincerity is the key to success. Once you can fake it you've got it made '

^still happens. Not just jewellery places either.

When I was 17 my friend and I sneaked into an over 18's nightclub.(we where the guys)After our whole twenty pounds was spent we sat and looked at the table next to us, where there was a table of empties...

Its amazing what cocktails you can make from,Beer,Bitter,Red Wine,Bacardi N Coke... We managed some how to do this for the rest of the evening and had

Goodness me, I think we have a winner.

Argentine buddy and I took a road trip to San Fransisco, heading back to LA broke, cold and hungry I paid the motel bill with a check on his assurance that if you lived over 100 miles from where your check bounced then they could not come after you, the motel never did so it must be true, the first time an Argentinen ever told the truth!!!
