Well, a lot of interesting thoughts here.

If my Thai were any good I certainly would have spoken to them by now.

As far as moving out goes, it's just not on for now. I'm going to be on the road quite a bit over the next few months including a month in the US over Christmas and New Years, so I'll stay put and bear it for the duration.

It certainly helped to express my frustration here....

Have lived with the wifes family for 5 years and never seen or heard of the things you are going through. Everyone does there bit around the house except me as I am a lazy barsted.
BIL doesnt even live with us anymore but will still come around and help with any work cutting lawn and washing the dogs.
FIL is a hard worker never stops around the house or out earning a few bucks. Best thing I ever did was move in with the wifes family. Not all Thais are so bad and yes I think it is caused by bad parenting

I think GoW's immediate family are pretty good.

GoW obviously works hard and supports her parents, and her brother supported the family when GoW was at University. The brother still works and is now a new daddy, so he has something else to look after.

As there are only 2 kids in the family, I feel it is only right to make a sacrifice and not get married or have kids, as this will obviously leave GoW's parents with no income (Mum does a little work, Dad can't anymore). Awfully decent of me don't you think?

Definitely good to vent to someone . As for a difference in generations, yeah, I have noticed a difference in some friends who are in their early 20's versus my friends who are over 30. That said, I've got some Thai and Malaysian friends who are under 25 and couldn't be more well mannered and respectful, to both their parents and their mates.

Shouldn't have allowed the situation to develope this far.

I hope Buadhai has it in him to put his foot down when he'll move, the relatives may assume he's an easy pushover.
As language is an issue, the wife is the key here.

That's what the sin sot is for, and it is high for the youngest or single daughter.

The Sin Sot is not part of my culture, so I don't need to worry about it.

Probably not. I usually drink in lieu of putting my foot down.

An alternative to being outwardly assertive, would be to 'borrow' some of the relatives' unwashed clothes and have a few Rottweilers trained on these at the new place.

Not in my household they wouldn't.

These two maggots are just taking the piss.

Just let it be known that they are not welcome in the new house under any circumstances unless thier attitude improves to an acceptable standard.
If Mrs B doesn't stand by you on this then maybe she should choose between them and you. It sounds like she is siding with them and that should not be happening. You are not there to facilitate laziness by anyone.

Very sensible move, I would say.
