I reckon too many people have read too many Stephen Leather style books and think that every woman in Thailand are a "Private Dancer" type thief and liar.
Ned doesn't have to proove his judgement in another person and I can vouch for the lady in question that she is a sincere and honest girl trying to take care of her child on her own.
To generalise against the entire race of Thai females is something I would expect from a jealous woman who has an axe to grind or blokes that probably have only had their arses burnt by a bar girl and deserved it.
Those of us who have lived with these people for any amount of time know the real story.
^ Thanks Mate !
she's a smart girl ned you have taught her well she will get through this, that im sure of
What the hell, no, of course we are aware things are not like in those books, Thai girls have evolved a lot since then and are way more cunning and callous now :)Quote:

As far as Ned is concerned it's peanuts anyway and money well spent, youll have to consider the huge stupid grin he has on his face everytime he emerges from the room, contra what mischief he otherwise would get tangled up in with that extra dosh in his pocket. ;) :) :)
I.ll drink to that!!Quote:

I don't much care for thieving pricks either:
Sukhumvitt in Ban Chang on Thursday evening, 21 Oct 2010, about 1700. Wife and I just came out of the front door of Tesco/Lotus with only 2 or 3 bags of groceries. Get on the motorcycle and cruise away headed West away from town. 100 meters down the road and a cycle pulls up real close on my left. Wife points this out to me and at that very same moment, a cycle comes up close on the right side of me and attempts to grab the gold chain with Buddha madalion from around my neck. Quick reations by both myself and the wife twarted to attempt to grab and rip the chain from my neck. Happened all in 3-4 seconds. I just wish I would have been able to kick the guy's bike over who was attempting to grab the chain from my neck but he was moving away from me as I kicked. I know it was the wife's hit to his arm that folied the attempt. I had lost that "situational awareness" just for a moment that I usually have in the forfront of my consciouness. A lot more aware these days. Damm Thieving Pricks.
I warned you about that possibly happening (to you) last time we went out for a beer.Quote:

She had one ripped off her neck in Jomtien. Hers had a gold buddah surrounded by diamonds attached to it.
Luckily the buddah and diamonds fell to the road as the thief sped off so she was able to retrieve the most valuable bit.
As the tourist industry flounders (because of the Thai's own fault) these people from upcountry who come to the tourist resorts expecting jobs and farang money end up starving with no money to get back home (or buy drugs) will resort to these type of crimes.
It's an epidemic at the moment and will only get worse until the tourists come back in their droves. Over to you Mr. Aphisit.....:)
tough decision to take off the chain and buddha as it (the Buddha not the chain) was a gift to ward off bad spirits and provide good luck. I've survived 2 attempts to have the chain stolen while on a mc now. do I take it off and risk bad luck elsewhere in my life? I'm not superstitious so that might be the answer.
Same with Ned and locking the bike to a telegraph pole.Quote:

Really glad your Wife and You avoided getting hurt Mate, good job in thwarting the scumbags attempted robbery, but goes to prove that having a visible gold chain while riding on the bike is tempting fate.
I understand that taking it of in respect to why and by whom it was given to you is a tough decision, but would it not provide the same comfort to the giver knowing it is in your pocket when you are out and about on the bike?
Be safe :)
Of-cause just kidding a bit Ned Mate, you know i'm sorry your very nice little Pattaya mate have had the bike stolen, I think it is great you do what you can to help her out a bit.
Lets hope your special fat friend down from Jomtien way for once does something worthwhile with his time, like stopping bike thieves instead of just collecting tea money from "innocent" lost tourists ;)
Bit Of bad luck for the lass there Ned, as for the dickheads just because your girl maybe a lying bitch doesnt mean eveyones else is.
When she gets a new bike get her a disc lock with alarm, I just bought one for my chop. the moment it senses movement it puts out a 120 Db alarm. works well for 1500 baht.
Milo got it for me up in Chang mai.
^ YES mate, that is definately on the hit list, with insurance as well'..
bloody oath mate!! but i won,t be holding me breath..thats for sure, though it would be nice if there was a resultQuote:
