No prizes for guessing where this beauty stands.
Small hint. You can see it in Bangkok if you're down by the river.

The sad thing being that that building just grew out of the concrete footpath a few years ago.

The Kowloon Walled City was located just outside Hong Kong, China during British rule. A former watchpost to protect the area against pirates, it was occupied by Japan during World War II and subsequently taken over by squatters after Japan’s surrender. Neither Britain nor China wanted responsibility for it, so it became its own lawless city."

"Its population flourished for decades, with residents building labyrinthine corridors above the street level, which was clogged with trash. The buildings grew so tall that sunlight couldn’t reach the bottom levels and the entire city had to be illuminated with fluorescent lights. It was a place where brothels, casinos, opium dens, cocaine parlors, food courts serving dog meat and secret factories ran unmolested by authorities. It was finally torn down in 1993 after a mutual decision was made by British and Chinese authorities, who had finally grown wary of the unsanitary, anarchic city and its out-of-control population."

The Chinese really are a pestilence, aren't they?

Isn't Muang Thong Thani home to a bunch of derelict condos?

    Promyshlennyi, Russia
Here is a little photo-session of an abandoned city. When the Soviet Union collapsed, government didn’t have much funds to support some small cities around strategically import objects. People of these cities were left all by themselves. Nobody could support them because any communication with this places terminated after the army decided that they now don’t have money to support those objects.
People had to leave their places and move. Some were lucky to find their place under a sun of the Army of new Russian Federation, some less fortunate had to leave such places without any hope to find a new home, just because the shops stopped working, water stopped coming out of the facet and nobody cared about them any more.
It has been said that even president Putin was thinking to retire from KGB in 1990 and go to work as a taxi driver. Many people are now probably express great sorrow that he changed his mind at that time.

Went into Famagusta deserted town ( with Turkish,UK and Nato escort ) in 1979 on an insurance claim - a piece of the tail from an Italian Cargo plane had broken off and landed there and had to be recovered. ( Plane landed a bit 'bumpy' at Larnaca )

It was wierd - there were new cars in the showrooms covered in dust and even an open market with piles of fruit and meat dried and withered on the stalls !

    SPOOKY !
