No doubt BF will provide us with the explanation something like reds in yellow shirts
Have any of these people been arrested or charged or convicted or imprisoned?
Silly question really. Remember the PAD guy that tried to kill the policeman in his truck? Drove over and into some, reversed over another once he was down; a kinda double run-over: no jail time...
Reconcilliation.
Is that a portrait of the king being held up behind the shooter (at around 30 seconds)?
No doubt that video will show the yellow burning buildings and shooting randomly at soldiers and civilians
^ Funnily enough, I would have thought that, in Thailand, a political militia firing at unarmed citizens whilst holding a picture of the Kind would be a far far worse crime, if the law was applied evenly.
Also, Papillion, your "shooting randomly at soldiers and civillians" line is yet more of your ridiculous 19th century mindset and the associated propaganda (absolte lies is another way that some people might put it).
Dan: Obviously yes; haven't you seen this before Dan; only been around the globe about 20 times - oh, the glory of the PAD and their ways...
Yellows = Bunch of stupid, violent, destructive self serving wankers.
Reds = Bunch of stupid, violent, destructive self serving wankers.
^ I don't disagree with much of that M.
But, a little analysis shows big differences:
Yellows: free; major propaganda tool working well (ASTV & Manager); minority group; supported by rich white-skinned sino-Thais from Bkk (okay, only 90%).
Reds: imprisoned; all media banned; huge national backing (single biggest group in the nation); supported by a wide variety of Thai groups around large swathes of the nation.
Ohhhhhhhhh Dear...certainly displelled the myths re the pro "though shall do no wrong innocent yellow shirt brigade"...eh Butterfly?Originally Posted by Mid
Firing a gun in front of a picture of the King, surely not?
No doubt has to have been faked by actors or students from the Thaksin School of performing arts?
And still not one sucessfull prosecution to date for violence and other wrongful acts carried out by the yellow shirts!
Never mind I'm sure everyone's completely reasured the impartial even handed behaviour shown to date by this government will continue unabated!

shht, don't tell them, they still think that there is a good side and a bad side, a bit like a fairy tale. Mid is American though, could explain whyOriginally Posted by Moonraker
No Butterfly most if not all posters on this board don't think that, but you've spent enough time banging your drum in support of the yellow brigade for anyone to know your reasoning is baseless!Originally Posted by Butterfly
^Actually, BF has been highly critical of the yellows....

Following the police crackdown on the PAD at government house, there was a great deal of outrage at the death of 2 protesters. There were demands that those responsible upto and including PM Somchai should face criminal charges and be made accountable. The process was begun.
Now however, following the many more killed during the red protests, it is unlikely that Abhisit and the Democrats will be too keen to allow that process to continue. It will be quietly forgotten about.
Is this news? It only happened like 2 years ago.
^^^At the time Chavalit (who ordered the crackdown on the PAD) resigned and said he was going to enrol as a monk, must have felt bad about something...
Here is another video from the time.
Change the shirts & faces and it could be this year. Red & yellow are just 2 sides of the same coin. Neither is better or worse than the other, they are the same people.

I liked when they beat up the bike.
There were a number of people killed during the PAD demonstrations. I've yet to see a decent accounting though.
First I can't understand why this is in the news section. It's not new news.Dispelling the myth that yellow shirts only protested peacefully
Second you can see that the yellow shirts were attacked as they were on the other side of the road.
Third, this video was posted before here or in the general media at the time. It's not new and the story has been discussed by Thais and here. There are videos of this from other angles which show the guns (I think from both sides).
Fourth, both the PAD and Red shirts leaders are selfish pigs who deserve to be locked up. And both the PAD and Red shirts have violent people in their groups. These violent people are just out for a fight over anything and with anyone. Thailand has plenty of these people around in most cities which is why there is so much violence in the news daily. Opinions are like assholes and assholes have opinions too.
2) Really? That'd be just you and TH then...Originally Posted by PaulBunyon
3) Please post a link, or better still the video directly; I was watching all of the news at that time with great interest and never saw anything approaching your suggestion...
Well first I will post the video info for the original clip on this thread.
It looks like this was posted on youtube on November 25, 2008. It has been watched 94,248 times as I post this.
I'll see what I can find. I was following the protests then too. Very little passes by TDers when they are arguing about things like this. I'm sure the clip was linked somewhere here on TD.
