I'm with you on this Nawty - planning a family trip next month. Have you ever thought about trying those owner rentals? Trip advisor calls it vacation rentals. Much cheaper option and bigger places by the looks of it.
No...not heard of them. Let me know if you find a site with this kinda stuff. Just been checking Wotif.
If we there same time, maybe get all the kids in the same pool one day and pizza after if you interested.
We are flexible over next 6 weeks as school hols started yesterday.
Only dates I cannot go is the 16th/20th as have visa to attend to in Korat on 16 and thinking to drive to BuriRam for missus to do something, then maybe overnight in a national park near the Cambo border, then down to Poipet market again and back to farm for few days then home.
I like poisoning my neighbours dogs till they die cos I'm a cnut
Not so easy unless money is no problem. Most apartments in Bangkok have a minimum length of stay at 3-6 months. However , there are exceptions. You might get lucky here :
Cheap apartments in Bangkok
I used to stay at a place called P.A. Tower :
Rooms can be rented by the day, week or month. It is located on Pahonyothin Road just North of the Laksi Monument ( just south of Don Muang Airport ) and an easy walk from Tescos. There are several good Thai restaurants nearby including Pahonyothin Park, a very good buffet place at 99 a head in an attractive garden setting ( gets very crowded though )
The rooms here are about 5000 a month. You would have to ask about the daily rate. There are one or two double rooms but mostly just the normal room, bathroom and balcony job. Rooms are plain but clean with satellite T.V , fridge and hot water. South facing rooms are best as they have a view over a military base that has nice gardens.
What really is nice here is the rooftop swimming pool. Great views and a nice place to chill out. There is also a coffee shop that does o.k. Thai food. with room service.
The pool.

Get a 2 bedroom apartment in my building for about B4,200 per night if you book in advance.
^will you still be there ?
When are you planning to visit?
Sounds like half a plan Nawty but there is no way possible we can leave until August so might be to late for you. Would love to catch up with you and the family again for sure.
Noodles, what place are you at?
Nawty - like I said - go to trip advisor and then click on vacation rentals. They got quite a few in bangkok but seems like a lot of them are owned/managed by the same person.
News is what someone, somewhere is trying to suppress - everything else is just advertising.

Check with Thai Pom, his landlady has several furnished two bedrooms. Located in Samut Prakhan, close to Carrefour, Makro, Lotus a little further away. Near Central Bangna etc.
Good sized pool and coffee shop is tops. Cold beer and good Thai food. Expats around if you want to socialize.
Don't know about weekly rates but know she does monthly for 8 - 10 K.
Good luck

Kids return to school on 23rd, so 3 weeks of August to play with. Can play by ear anyway.

We stayed at the Ascot earlier this year in the 2 bedroom...did not really like it.
However, the Somerset in Suanplu is nice from memory, we used to go swimming in there when we lived in Suanplu many moons ago.
Someset in soi 16 might be ok also.

JJ....will you be staying for breakfast ?
Might just get one room again and chuck the kids on the floor in their sleeping bags....just like camping......only better.
More choice around if its just 1 room, bettter everything.
Joining rooms would be ok, but cannot get this info from websites bookings like with wotif etc.....

Corner 1 bed apartment with... - Bangkok Vacation Rentals - TripAdvisor
yeah I got a reply back....their 2 bedroom, they have many...but the one I enquired was 16k for 5 days......but they were booked out for the period I enquired for all their 2 bedders.
Considering its across the river...pain to get to and from....and the 3k + price, their are others for around that price in town.
Grand Pres in soi 24 has a nice big single room, pool looks good with water slide etc and was rather cheap I think.
Pantip something or other seems good, will look into it more, they in sathorn soi 1, just around corner from mrt and were 15k or thereabouts for 5 nights.
