Breaking the first rule: posting while drunk..

Ok, I know the first rule of boards, don't post while drinking, but I am sitting here getting more steamed by the minute, so fuck it. delete, red me whatever.

Football: the world cup and England. Rant follows:

I am not a patriotic guy. Unlike smeg, my country of birth does not define me. I have live outide UK more than half my life now, and feel no great attachment. Its not where you live your life, its what you DO with your life that is important. Digression.

I admit, to my shame, every four years, I do get a faint, very faint "patriotic stirring", and I follow England in the world cup (when they qualify, I can still remember them not qualfying when I was at school).

Now, I do not really understand football. What eleven men get up to on a pitch week after week (in the leagues) is just no concern of mine. I honestly do not give a fuck. Chelsea? Man U? Portsmouth? Arsenal? Who fucking cares? Maybe a side effect of dad, being in the Navy (Royal) moving city every couple of years. No city hold my allegiance. So, Portsmouth (where I liverd) versus Villa - well, who cares???????

But OK, world cup, balh blah. I am a true UK mongrel (1/4 welsh, quarter english, half scots) but mostly brough up in England, so, every four years rah, rah England. (Mind you, it would be NICE to support Wales or scotland more than once every blue moon).

So, to the gist. England. They are a fucking embarrasment. I mean really. last I saw, playing for England was not compulsory. They (the players) COULD, I mean really COULD say, well "no thanks". "I don't think I am up to it".

Instead, we get a bunch of prima donnas who do not even fucking TRY. I mean, Algeria for fuck sake. ALGERIA!!!!

You want to put that shirt on, and represent me and another 60 million people - you better do you fucking BEST. Your BEST. I want you to RUN. I want you to FIGHT for every ball. I want you to BUST YOUR FUCKING GUT.

You want the shirt- you pay for it.

I would rather see the fucking under 21 squad playing, and trying, and going down honourably than a bunch of prancing millionaires hoofing abouy the pitch. I don't mind losing, but I fucking HATE losing without effort.

the ONLY fucking excuse, when you put that shirt on is "I would have done better, but I had a heart attack from the effort".

I feel the same. If it had been a good game with effort put in to it then we could have had an honorable draw, I wouldn't have minded that. But instead we were treated to 90min of pure shit. What a joke.
