    Proud as can be..

For the last couple of years Joy, my better half, has been attending a sort of night school / adult education thing that they run, here in the village.

It's a once a week session, on a Wednesday evening, with the occasional all day session at weekends.

I've always supported her in this but, to be frank never really thought much of it.

Well, we've just had a phone call from the regional director of the adult education scheme and Joy has been selected to represent the region at a 4 day conference in Bangkok starting next Monday.

She gets an all expenses paid 4 day trip to BKK to meet reps from all over Thailand.

    How fokin good is that.

    Just wanted to tell someone.

Pretty "foking" good I would say. Kudos to her.

Great news mate and Joy must be so proud.

Without being too nosy, and I imagine it is an exciting event for her but what will be her next step up the ladder?

    Is reps short for reprobates?
Only kidding. Good to hear that an investment of time over a couple of years has reaped some reward.

    Learning to read.

    No, I'm joking,

I don't know. we'll see how she goes, and what she wants to do.

Joy married young, is a grandmother to Im, aged 2, and, like many women from a rural background had little formal education.

Now that her kids have left the roost it's up to her to do what she wants and, if further ed. is what she wants to do, good on her.

She'll get all the support she needs as far as I'm concerned.

Books are good and it's good to see people investigating them.

    We'll see.

I wish. Maybe I should pop down for a couple of days whilst she's at the conference.

    Her and her teacher.

    Bus.

    Some grotty hotel somewhere.

She has to wear blue shirts ?

Apparently there'll be over 1000 + people from all over Thailand.

If I go down I'll fly and do my own thing.

    Book shops and so on.........................

Loytoy, seems like you should rethink your code for "let's go out while your missus is at the conference".

    Well done to the lady.
I get real satisfaction when the other half achieves a goal.
Looks like Ms Joy has surpassed hers, so I can imagine both of you are as pleased as punch.
    Good on her.
