Thousands Of People On Silom Now Protesting Against The Red Shirts.

There are now thousands of people on Silom road protesting against the red shirts. These are ordinary people, residents, food vendors, market stall owners etc. They are fed-up of it and are going out of business because of these people. Riot police holding them back from crossing in to Rama 4 and to the red shirt protesters.

I saw some altercations between the rival demonstrators today and on the Thai afternoon News.

Noodles, has all the vendor's been closed down on Silom (Patpong as well) and if so how long has it been since they have been able to make a living?

The reds have absolutely no public support, they fail to understand that, and that is they are going to lose at the end. If it wasn't for their leaders foul and full mouth, their propaganda wouldn't hold more than a few seconds in the minds of most peasants. Repeating the same shit over and over, like they do in Thai schools, seem to be the only way for them to remember what they are fighting for, that is the return of a past with their savior in charge.

The longer the authorities delay, the closer it gets to the public doing their job for them.

    Great tactical ploy.

For authorities who can't take responsibility.

they have circled the reds, maybe starve them and test their nerve for a few more days

the reds remind me of the Islamic extremists who failed to "uprise" the population against their brutal dictators, when that failed they went to extreme measures and went the terrorism route. Not that it was effective, but it drew attention, it was advertising to rally their cause. Unfortunately, it only draws more extreme candidates, not the mainstream like they would have wanted to. It's a self-destructing dead end.

The reds have lost strategically, now we are arguing about the tactical loss of their demonstration and their lost cause.

The period leading up to Songkran is like the Christmas retail season for clothing sellers in Pratunam, a significant part of annual sales are made in the roughly 6-week window.

The Red rallies almost emptied the market on some days and had a very negative impact on total sales for many, many vendors, a lot of whom are Red supporters.

So quite a few started shutting down early and joining the party at Rajprasong rather than moaning and wailing and turning fascist in response to the disappointment.

If, and it is a very big IF, these crowds at Silom really are made up of a majority of food vendors etcetera, then they are a strange group, and very likely assholes.

But I don't believe for a minute that that's who they are; unless of course PAD is back up to its 1000 Baht-a-day rent-a-mob tactic.

Well, well it boils down to money. Not surprising as it is Thailand.

Money trumps freedom and democracy. Bunch of sell outs....
