thought it was Drandy. He hit "Caps Lock" as he hit "A" since A is right next to Caps Lock.

its a fine gesture, and in any most other countries i would say go ahead.

but this is thailand so just make sure that they dont have any drugs or contraband in their luggage, and that you register them as staying with you at the nearest police/immigration office.

sometimes good deeds can turn round and give you a nasty surprise.

best do it through an official channel as filch suggested.

    good luck

Just got back and have drawn a blank.
To be honest the situation there is not as dire as made out.
First I checked out the departures area where there lots of people around the Thai, Emirates, Swiss and Lufthanser desks and it looks like the airlines are helping them out.
Went down a level to where the small restaurants, boots and familymart are and there seems to be no one in too much distress around that area although I did see a few desperados clutching a can of chang or two!
Milled around and got talking to a couple of groups, but they were still in high spirits and said that they should be out of here soon (and had just ate).
All in all I achieved nothing, but the thought was there eh?
Got two Thai dudes laying some new wood on my stairs and stopped off and got them some pad kra phow, cokes and an M150 each, so at least I have done one good deed today.
Thanks to all that replied and sorry that the result is a letdown.
On my next mission I shall go around Silom and see if some red shirts want to come round and play Twister whilst listening to some R.E.M and Tears for Fears with me.
    Black diamonds? I shit 'em.

Walk through and pick out the cute swedish backpackers....they usually have no problem walking around the house neked, like to shower together and I guess male or female dependant on which way you bat.

Just out of curiousity Bogon, did any of them give an idea of how long they have to wait until flights leave (particularly to England).

The reason being is my brother just asked me to help out his gf and daughters who are stranded here due to not being able to get a flight back. She's wondering how long until people can leave (she was told early May on the phone!).

The only desk I really hung about for a while was the Thai one and they had a sign up saying that the next update on flights to Europe was at 1700 (if I can remember correctly).
The rest of the desks were full of Scandinavians and Germans so I scarpered petty quickly from that area.
A couple I got talking to reckon they may be out of here as early as tomorrow, but I did not ask what flight they were on and it sounded more speculation than fact.
Everything seems very tentative at the moment, but some scheduled flights to Europe this evening have not been cancelled yet according to this link FLIGHT STATUS - Arrivals | Departures | Suvarnabhumi Airport | New Bangkok Airport Guide
I am sorry for not giving you any hard facts, but if I can help further in any way feel free to PM me.

There have been many volcano eruptions in the last 20 odd years....how come this never happened then ?

Is the icelandic volcano different ?

the very fine dust is caused by the interaction of the spewing lava and the icecap

that conjunction happens rarely; usually the dust is much coarser and falls to the ground quickly

Yes he can pick and choose, it is his house!

Well intentioned as your thoughts maybe Bogon, but unless there was some serious request from Quentin the queer at the Embassy, I would hesitate.

After all, it is not like it is going to cost anyone that much for a cheap hotel for a few nights/weeks - besides - Thailand needs the tourists!

If the people stuck at the airport cannot afford a cheap hotel, then you are probably only looking at "Smelly Backpackers" anyway.

Better just say a prayer for them, it will give you a lot less of a headache.

But you are a "Jolly Good Sport" for even thinking about this!

    Cheers missismiggins.
Just me the missus and a few Leos tonight.
I knocked the idea on the head earlier anyways.
Not one of the best plans I have ever hatched, but many moons ago I was in that postion before (stuck in an airport for a few days) and two people helped me out.
One was a bird doing questionaires in the airport and she took me out with her friends and got me some chow and a drink and the other was a gay chap on baggage who took a liking to me and also gave me some food (insert joke here).
I am forever greatful for their help.
That's the story behind why I wanted to help.

Exactly, I know what you mean, it is great you think about helping people, but letting some people shack up in your home, when an hotel here is not that expensive, would to me suggest you would only attract some dregs. Probably wake up and find they had eaten half of your Shepherds Pie!

But your heart is in the right place!

Shame, you could have shown them that there are some nice Brits . . . oh, and Scandis and Germans can generally speak English quite well

    Good for you for trying
