Thread: Killing Time

I've just spent the last eight hours laboriously adding album cover art to my iTunes library. I wanted to stop, but I couldn't. I'm about one third of the way trough. I did manage to eat once and just finished a luscious chocolate ice cream bar, but I'm looking forward to finishing the job. Ironically, I'll probably rarely look at the art because I usually listen to iTunes while sitting out on the front porch gazing at the garden or reading a book.

Compulsive? Stupid? Idle hands?

Wow bhuadhai, that is dedication, either that or you are a nutter. My mate emailed me about 10 album covers I put about 5 of them on and then gave up.

I had an unexpected day of and now I'm piddled and just a bit pissed at someone.

My mental mate spent months scanning English childrens books.

It's wonderful how threads like this take unexpected turns.

Now I'm forced to add that one rainy day this week in Cha Am I spent nearly the entire day typing in the titles of about 450 songs I'd copied from a friend's machine and ripped from his custom CD mixes he had.

I guess he and MeMock would agree that I'm a "nutter".

I'll try and do something non-compulsive tomorrow. Maybe a big hangover is in order.

Buadhai, are you doing this manually or have you just let itunes 7 do it for you?

I once named all my socks with male and female names, unfortunately things got a bit funny when I wore Tiffany and Olga and they turned out to be lesbians...

Couldn't you just have hired some cheap labor to do all that hard work?

I let iTunes do what it could, which wasn't much. I have a lot of foreign albums, collections of songs that are not "albums" and other junk that iTunes couldn't handle.

For example, I have a collection of jazz tunes written by HRH. There not from an album, so I just used the 60th Anniversary Emblem for the album cover art.

I'm finally done and while the "Cover Flow" effect is cool for a while, I'm not sure it was all worth the effort.

You know, when I saw this thread under "New Posts" I wondered who would start a thread with such I silly name. Now I know. It was I....

Oh I see I just downloaded version 7 last night and saw that it had an artwork function whihc is why I thought of you! It found a fair bit for me but a lot of my Australian country it doesnt like.

Exactly. It only searches for album art in the US iTunes Music Store. There are other solutions. I use Amazon Album Art from the Widget Foundry which allows you to search many of the different Amazon stores for Album Art.

There's also Synergy

And Album Art Widget

But sometimes I resort to a good old manual search using Google images....

Can you point the search tool to those extra sites you just mentioned or do you have to do that manually?

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking. But all of the three I mentioned go out and search on their own. Then you can tell them to add the album art to iTunes. I think the last one I mentioned (Album Art Widget) does the best job but none of them is perfect....
