The market is waning, less people interested in looking sharp, sitting on the veranda looking at the plantation workers doing their daily routine . . . G&T at hand

Entitlement. Here's the thing. Merkins, like the Thai, are exceptionally sensitive and easily offended. Like the Thai, their education system and media have fed them a one-sided diet of glorified crap. Unlike the Thai though, Merkins have developed the interesting PC twist.
Now Mr. Average Merkin comes on an international discussion board, loudly (err, loudly? Merkins ain't loud are they?) proclaiming their entitlement to respect because hey, their fathers/grandfathers/uncles/whatever died in the defence of UK/Europe.
Now in all my time on internet boards, I have never heard an Ozzie, Kiwi, Yarpie, African etc. say anything like that. It seems that they are blissfully unaware that it was a World war. So, they are very PC and sensitive, yet totally insensitive to the fact that many nationalities sacrificed. Thin-skinned elephants, really.
They get offended if their 'sacrifice' is ignored, yet happilly and stupidly ignore all others'.
How to win friends and influence people. I, like so many people, like individual Americans, but so many of them are doing such a damn good job of creating enemies with their farkin attitude that I'd not bet on for how long it will still last.
Sounds good to me as I do not think much of you or your lot either.Originally Posted by FlyFree

And actually the way I see it is the way most of you look at the USA and the war in Iraq and in afghan and where ever they have seen fit to send troops,, it was and is really none of our fucking business if hitler was daily bombing london or the war in eurpoe was none of our fucking business either, the Japs bombed us and so we did own then one, and finally gave em 2 and put a stop to it, other than that, we should have stayed at home. But my grandad was over there in the first and my dad in the second, but they both came home., so I can't see where we owe England or Europe a damn thing.
But thats not the way an American operates and if you need a hand then we usually are first to reach out.
IMHO
Not really. Something about not getting respect because something his uncle did 70 years ago. Blackgang's on ignore so I can't read his gems unless they're quoted . . . did anyone ever figure out what he meant with his anti-blacks racist rant?
Camel Toe and BG . . . logical bedfellows in this scenario

Well if I am on ignore, why can you see what I write?
you said it can't be done when I had you on ignore and took shit from quotes,, but what was not supposed to work for me works for you and antsy,, I see now..
Yes CT, I have noticed this too, and it does make the Hats heart race up to 190 pulses a minute, which is a tad fast for a man his age to get into such a sexual frenzy.Originally Posted by panama hat
I do not know what it does to the Mulatto, as he has some structural faults and might cave in and implode/explode at any second.
So Blackgang's shit stay and other posts are deleted . . . typical rubbish by the mods
Can I distract you all from your vicious infighting for a minute ?
For an account of the sinking of the Rainbow Warrior, go here :

What is totally disgusting is that on the 20th anniversary of the sinking, it was revealed that the French president Francois Mitterand had personally authorised the bombing.

With all due respect to all parties I must say this.
I grew up in a rather small town with a county seat of about 10,000 people. The courthouse was and still is in the middle of town.
To add to the park like atmosphere the county would add a few benches and tables for people. This is where the fun began.
Old men would whittle something and spit.
As a young man I would often stop and sit on these benches, trying to absorb the conversations. The old men would not talk or argue that much but when they did...
Talk about a learning about the real world. It was great.
Thanks for the memories and hopefully I can pass on the tradition.
