JK Rowling could be investigated by police for misgendering

    http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/books/news/jk-rowling-misgender-trans-snp-b2521530.html

JK Rowling could be investigated by police for misgendering trans people under Scotland’s new hate crime law, an SNP minister has said.
The party’s community safety minister, Siobhian Brown, had previously claimed that misgendering – for example, using the pronoun “he” when talking about a trans woman – would not count as a hate crime, but she has now said it would be a police decision.

Speaking as the Hate Crime and Public Order (Scotland) Act came into force on Monday 1 April, Ms Brown told Radio 4’s Today programme: “It could be reported and it could be investigated. Whether or not the police would think it was criminal is up to Police Scotland for that.”

The legislation was passed in 2021, while Humza Yousaf was serving as justice secretary in Nicola Sturgeon’s government. It is only now being implemented after Police Scotland spent time training its officers.
The new law covers hatred on the basis of age, disability, race, religion, sexual orientation and transgender identity.
Women were not listed as a protected group in the legislation, in a move that has been described as “astonishing” by human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell.

On this point, Ms Brown admitted that “more work needs to be done” and said a misogyny bill would be introduced.
But the legislation has raised concerns that the definition of a hate crime is too ambiguous, and could threaten free speech, with prominent critics including Rowling, podcaster Joe Rogan and Elon Musk, the owner of X.

Harry Potter author Rowling has frequently argued online that trans women are not women and last week vowed to continue “calling a man a man” despite what she called the “ludicrous law”. She said she would not delete social media posts that could breach hate crime laws.

In response to the new law coming into force on Monday, Rowling posted a series of tweets about trans women who are convicted paedophiles and rapists, writing: “The new legislation is wide open to abuse by activists who wish to silence those of us speaking out about the dangers of eliminating women’s and girls’ single-sex spaces, the nonsense made of crime data if violent and sexual assaults committed by men are recorded as female crimes, the grotesque unfairness of allowing males to compete in female sports, the injustice of women’s jobs, honours and opportunities being taken by trans-identified men, and the reality and immutability of biological sex...
“The re-definition of ‘woman’ to include every man who declares himself one has already had serious consequences for women’s and girls’ rights and safety in Scotland, with the strongest impact felt, as ever, by the most vulnerable, including female prisoners and rape survivors.”

The writer, who lives in Edinburgh, added: “I’m currently out of the country, but if what I’ve written here qualifies as an offence under the terms of the new act, I look forward to being arrested when I return to the birthplace of the Scottish Enlightenment... #ArrestMe.”
Rowling has long been a fierce critic of the Scottish Government’s gender reform plans, arguing the proposals infringe on women’s safety.
She has previously stated that she would rather go to jail than refer to a trans person by their preferred pronouns.
Her latest public row was with trans activist India Willoughby, whom she deliberately misgendered.
“India didn’t become a woman,” she wrote on X. “India is cosplaying a misogynistic male fantasy of what a woman is.”
Willoughby responded to Rowling’s comments, writing: “Genuinely disgusted by this. Grotesque transphobia, which is upsetting. I am every bit as much a woman as JK Rowling. Recognised in law, and by everyone I interact with every day. The debate about whether JK Rowling is a transphobe is over.”

And this is what people mean when they talk about "that woke shit".

Fortunately, Rowling has extremely deep pockets and an attitude.

J.K. Rowling has challenged Scottish police to arrest her following a set of social media posts in which she describes transgender women as men.

    On Monday, the controversial Scottish
Harry Potter author, 58, posted to X, formerly known as Twitter, in response to the Hate Crime and Public Order (Scotland) Act, which went into effect on April 1, 2024.

In a series of social media posts, Rowling — who has previously been criticized for anti-transgender comments, as well as her support for others with anti-transgender views — listed the names and photos of a number of trans women, including both activists and convicted criminals, and described them as men.

Sad outcome to this we'll end up in politically correct nations with very long 'correct names for public toilets/bathrooms'. Like Spain where all these are common, Retretes, Servicios/Aseos/Cabelleros/Damas/Kommuniak signs common in Navarra which I know best.

Trains/Planes are going to need more bathrooms larger doors for signs like

1 For those born female who do not have a penis nor capable of rape
2 Guys and cocks in Frocks pretending to be women
    3 Middlesex and others

What was highlighted withe rapist who wished to be in a female prison.
I don't fear a woman 'dressed as man' in a locker room/changing room and there are very few such complaints but the reverse be it refuges, sports or bath/shower rooms seems odd to me, am I too old , intolerant not to see this?

I fearPolice Scotland will be inundated with woke or frivolous , malicious complaints when they should be chasing thieves rapists , murderers etc which will make ordinary law abiding citizens less safe?

    'transphobia'

Calling a man that thinks he's a woman due to some mental disease a man = transphobia.

They aren't half fokin' melodramatic, these blokes.

I'm OK with using whatever pronouns or how they want to be addressed (Ms, Mr, etc) but am not OK with letting trans women compete with biological women in sports. Their testosterone levels are not the same & it gives them an unfair advantage.

Recently, there was this trans woman in the US who won in swimming - the female athletes protested against the policy, which they rightly should, IMO.

Sure, as long as it's not demanded. Of course I refer to LBs here as she, her, teera... just she and her.

You must refer to me as xxx!!

Sure, you must refer to me as Lord and Emperor Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, as that's what I identify as.

I’m with you on this, Katie. We can all be polite and address people as they would like because it is the right thing to do. Saying these people are actually women is another thing entirely. As much as they would like to be women, it ain’t so. It is their sexual identity, not their sex and their sex has been determined by a Y chromosome and hormone levels. That is the unfair advantage in sports.

this hate law has very little to do with trans, its more about using the trans debate to introduce hate crime laws which can be used to control speech and thought and criminalise those whose views differ from the proscribed orthodoxy.

marxism and maos china spring to mind.

they're simply using the trans debate to bring in hate crime laws in order to stifle debate and impose their extremist views. 90% of the population think the trans argument is plain stupid and disagree with trans in female spaces, the government then declare that 90% of people are hateful and that they require a hate law to protect the "victims" of this obvious hate, and then slowly this hate law is used to stifle debate and opinion across other contentious subjects that are affecting society today e.g. the rise of islam in a christian society, slavery and of course anything to do with diversity, equality, human rights, he environment etc.etc.etc. meanwhile the majority slowly become increasingly marginalised.

one only needs to listen to humza yousaf, the leader of the scottish nationalists, to see just how driven, hateful and indeed racist this man is.

scotland b.t.w.is a country with a 96% white population so is it any wonder white people hold most managerial positions. humza seems to be demanding both the abandonment of a meritocracy and a takeover by a minority.

They take testosterone blockers so they are, hormonally, all on a level playing field.

However science will show that if you go through puberty as a male you get bigger, stronger muscles/cardio system/bones/ligaments/joints and whatever other bits of human meat make up a full grown adult. Then when it comes to moving mass through space Newtonian physics doesn't seem to care much for gender equality and the results are quite obvious.

This is why prepubescent children should be allowed to medically transition to the gender they were born as, not the gender of the body they were born in to.

^ How would anyone know for sure it is the right decision at that young age? Would it be effeminate males or tomboy girls? If this was done would it mean the extinction of gays and lesbians. Sound fucked up.

^^^I'm with misskit on this one. How will they know that it's their final decision/ sexual identity at the age of 11 or 12? They're still kids at that age - not mature enough to make decisions whether they want to be a boy/ girl/ gender neutral, etc. Injecting hormones that are foreign to your system effs up the mind/ emotions as well.

I talked once with a young gay man who was transitioning. He said he was injecting hormones at that time. He said the hormones made him very weepy, emotional, depressed sometimes. This was maybe 4 yrs ago. I haven't seen him/ her since, so I don't know if the transition is complete. He/ she was in the early 20s then.

@planK - thanks for the info/correction. Yes, having grown up as males (or experienced puberty as males) give them more advantage, esp in sports.

This is the case of the US swimmer that I mentioned earlier. She has now filed a case against the authorities in swimming.

As much as I'm sick of Thailand and all that bringing up a child here entails, I really don't think that I'm any longer equipped to live as a parent in the West.

No one does mate. Stay where you are. keep working away and sticking the coin in the bank get the daughter schooled up and re evaluate your options. I left Asia because basicly I was to young to retire and my kids were to young to expect a decent education in Laos. I sure miss my lifestyle and it feels like I've gone backwards by moving back here ,but the kids are moving forwards and that makes me think I might of done the right thing by them. I was single when I left Oz so coming back to Oz with a wife and kids was also a bit weird

J K Rowling will liberate Scottish women
The author has given the courage to thousands of others to stand up for their rights.

J K Rowling, this champion of women’s rights, who has introduced countless women across the generations to feminism in recent years, has scored a blinder. She is now challenging Scottish police to arrest her for her defiance of Scotland’s new hate crime law.

For those that have been in a coma recently, this week saw the introduction of an absolutely bonkers piece of legislation that has been subject to as much derision as it has anger. The law, aptly brought in on April Fools’ Day, is within the “hate crime” category, where somebody convicted of stirring up hatred could face a fine and a prison term of up to seven years.

But here is the rub – the Hate Crime and Public Order (Scotland) Act is a “non-crime” offence. Confused? So is everyone else. The legislation – passed by the Scottish Parliament in 2021 with votes from SNP, Labour, Green, and Lib Dem MSPs (and even one Conservative) – appears to be based on a person’s perception that someone is being hateful towards them.

This will likely encourage trans activists, for example, to report women to the police for “misgendering” them. Although the First Minister said that he has “absolute faith” in the ability of police officers to weed out vexatious complaints, I doubt it, bearing in mind the capture of so much of Scottish society and its institutions by gender lunatics.

Either way, this is about reporting people for offending on the grounds of age, disability, religion, sexual orientation, and transgender identity. Notice what’s missing? Yes! Pesky women, but why on earth would anyone concern themselves with misogyny?

Rowling, who has been outspoken about transgender ideology and its adverse effect on women and girls for some time, posted a series of tweets on X on Monday, in which she pointed out that the double rapist, Isla Bryson, and child sex offender Katie Dolatowski are actually men not women. Rowling also mentioned Mridul Wadhwa, the head of a Scottish rape crisis centre who is a male in a role that should be occupied by a woman.

After her caustic humour, for example, “Lovely Scottish lass and convicted double rapist Isla Bryson found her true authentic female self shortly before she was due to be sentenced,” Rowling turned serious:

“Scottish lawmakers seem to have placed higher value on the feelings of men performing their idea of femaleness, however misogynistically or opportunistically, than on the rights and freedoms of actual women and girls,” she posted.

“The new legislation is wide open to abuse by activists who wish to silence those of us speaking out about the dangers of eliminating women’s and girls’ single-sex spaces, the nonsense made of crime data if violent and sexual assaults committed by men are recorded as female crimes, the grotesque unfairness of allowing males to compete in female sports, the injustice of women’s jobs, honours and opportunities being taken by trans-identified men, and the reality and immutability of biological sex.”

Rowling speaks for me, countless other women, and a number of men who have woken up to the misogynistic nature of trans activism. She has exposed the spiteful actions of many ideologues towards feminists that dare speak out, and refuse to go along with men in women’s spaces, or the legislation that concerns itself with the hurt feelings of men claiming to be women over the safety of actual females.

This new piece of legislation considers men feeling offended as being more important than our legal right to single sex spaces. It puts into question our right to name men as men. It also gives even more ammunition to misogynists, many of them masquerading as progressives, who wish to give women a good metaphorical (and in some cases, actual), kicking.

Before Rowling spoke out publicly about the madness of gender ideology, many of us were fighting the good fight. But it is impossible to put into words the huge positive impact her public proclamations have had on this debate. Whenever I travel to research articles on violence against women and girls, to countries such as Uganda, Ecuador, Spain and the United States, women almost always mention Rowling. They tell me how inspired and supported they feel by her standing with them on this issue.

Whilst still retaining the crown as one of the most famous and successful writers on the planet, Rowling will go down in history as a feminist revolutionary who brought about change that had been previously almost impossible to imagine before she decided that enough was enough.

It is clear that Rowling is not bluffing – she will see this through to the bitter end. Her entire raison d’etre in calling to be arrested is to test the law and show how unworkable, ridiculous and offensive it is.

She also is very clear that by speaking out, she does it for all of those women who cannot, because they risk losing their livelihood, their reputations, or even being arrested themselves.

The SNP, beginning with Nicola Sturgeon and her insistence that men self-identifying as women would pose no risk to females in refuges, prisons and changing rooms, through to this Orwellian madness, have taken Scotland to the precipice.

The stakes are so high that the unimaginable becomes possible, in that woman, the one group whose “protected characteristics” appear to be missing from the list covered by this law, could be sent to prison for seven years for offending a man who claims to be a woman by pointing out the obvious.

I, and countless other feminists, hope Rowling gets arrested. It will further expose the law for what it is.

scotland b.t.w.is a country with a 96% white population so is it any wonder white people hold most managerial positions. humza seems to be demanding both the abandonment of a meritocracy and a takeover by a minority.

Thin end of the wedge, the goal is so called Islamophobia, Islamists like this fake Scottish leader want to extend this hate nonsense to stop any critics of their very nasty religion. It will be a blasphemy law next for anyone calling out their book of, ironically hate, and the disgusting life of their fake prophet.
