Is it really beyond your powers to work it out?

The Vasa warship sank on the occasion of its inaugural journey in Stockholm in 1628. After 333 years at the bottom of the sea, this impressive warship was recovered. Today, the VASA is the best-preserved 17th century ship and can be admired within a museum structure specially built in Stockholm.

Could stay in the air 24/7 with that bad boy providing food for fuel.

Scrapped by our government and cost billions of taxpayers money, only one left I think.
The remaining ones were scrapped unceremoniously.

I wonder what that Inuit lady would have thought if she had been told that she would be giving a bloke in Australia a minor panhandle 130 years in the future...

    Thanks TC

I organised a fundraiser dinner at local church in England for St Georges day 95 tickets sold Raised £4200 after costs to pay for beach cleaning along our little stretch of coast. The St Georges Day theme was red roses and little flags for table decor Post a photo a week, of anything/anywhere-a49b02de-25e3-45a3-9ad6-e7101c7fa2c5-jpg

Nice job. What was each ticket worth? How was the menu? Any entertainment?

^^you might wanna delete that picture of the LV bag, looks a tad suspicious 555

Good effort though and beach cleaning is definitely a valid cause in my book.

Fat finger on i phone. Prezzies for back home.

Anyway the tickets were £30 each. Advertised on social media and local freebie rag. I used Eventbrite to sell a few - they charge a significant commission so they were 32,50. They do offer a payment platform which was essential for about 20% of sales.

Menu was soup, prawn cocktail or pate, then chicken breast, roast beef sirloin or nut veggie roast. Pudding was apple cruble or fruit salad. I'd anticipated some issue in serving circa 100 guests, despite the chef's assurances. So had a second chef do pre prepared canapes for an hour during pre dinner bar service. Also olives, crisps and pan roasted cashew nuts with kaffir lime/chilli. Plus a fruit platter of melon and pineapple. Then another of dates, mint chocs and fudge for petits fours. Just as well - some of the mains took 90 minutes to get out. That delayed puds, so the fruit platters and sweets kept people happy.

We had a crooner who did rat pack and Elvis. Had some people dancing and it got quite lively.

Wine was English, mostly. Chapel Down Flint Dry, Kits Coty, sparkling and pink sparkling.

We took £1200 over the bar, another £1200 in raffle sales. I invested £50 in a card reader so we could process card sales. A local pub chain donated most of the beers, cider. Approx 20 raffle prizes. First prize was a night in a suite at local top boutique hotel. Others were stuff like hair dos, pet portrait, dog groom, chiropodist appt, meals for two, afternoon teas, wines, nail gels, book voucher...... all donated by local businesses.

One problem was wine. I couldnt get sale orvreturn so had to underwrite it myself. We totally sold out of the Chapel Down whites and fizz. The reds were mixed bottles from my own stash at home priced individually eith a £10-£15 mark up on my trade price from wine merchant

All labour exc the singer was volunteers. The church cost £257 to hire.

I was left so knackered afterwards (I'd traveled back from KL a few days earlier to sort it) i removed myself to a beach in Crete from whete I'm posting this!

The challenge will be to repeat it next year. I fear I may have pushed the volunteers too hard, leaned a bit to heavily on sponsors. We shall see. In any case we have money in the bank to support beach cleaning for rest of 2022 on two bayscaling the Kent coast.

The local Morrisons donated a £200 voucher that paid for most of the food that was in addition to the three course menu. Good on them.

A fun night with good community spirit. The Chair of Kent County Council camevaling to lend her support. I asked her to wear her bangle ;-)

Great effort L&F. Most of the beech or countryside cleans i've been involved in are voluntary so do you mind me asking what the funds are needed for?.

On the contrary now that you've done it once people know what it is and what to expect. Get a committee together to start doing the work now, you can step back a little.

The UK has lots of willing volunteers, there are lots of weekly beech cleans. You seem to be implying they make a half arsed job of it. Anyway my question stands out of intetest.
