The famous monk Luang Pho Khun. I have one of his amulets from the 70's.

    Aha, what I googled:

Luang Phor Koon learned Buddhism and meditation from revered monks in Nakhon Ratchasima. He made years-long pilgrimages to Laos and Cambodia to further practice meditation and promote Buddhism. He reportedly learned magic spells from one of his senior monks and mentors to protect him during his pilgrimages.

    Riddle solved, thanks ao

Don't think so, I've been to Wat Ban Rai and it didn't look like the temple in Nevernas pic.
I'd also not label it as "sleepy little temple", it was extremely busy with continuous arrival of new visitors .
The missus has not forgiven me for spending the 100 baht bill I got back from Luang Por Khun after giving him two..

None of the above, but thanks for the interest and the guesses.

    Another clue:
A movie was shot there in the 70s. The lead actor went on the become hugely famous soon after. The temple grounds were used as the location of some scenes in the movie. Other local places were also used for the film.

So, what was the name of the movie and who was the soon to be famous actor?

Well its the Big Boss starring Bruce Lee, who did his first and only nude scene in the movie. I think its Siri Samphan Temple, also known as the Zinc Temple. In Nakorn Ratchasima province but in Pak Chong district. Fingers crossed.

Hopefully thanks for the hints Nev.

Yep, revive that old thread! My shortwave ham radio hobby means that I know exceedingly boring geographical details about virtually every country and island in the world....

Just found out why I had not heard of the title. It was also called Fists of Fury for the American audience.

Yes, that's it: Big Boss, or Fists of Fury. Green sent.

Here's a clip of the final fight scene that shows off the temple and grounds well.

TOURISTS flock to these picturesque mountains for some of Queensland’s best views but rescuers have just about had it with their stupidity.

Glass House Mountains, QLD: Why people keep needing to be rescued

    ---

More than 110 people have been rescued from the Glass House Mountains on the Sunshine Coast in the past two years — 10 times more than any other mountain in Queensland.

Emergency services have been called out 112 times to the three peaks — Mount Tibrogargan, Mount Beerwah and Mount Ngungun — in that time, according to new data from the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES).

Tibrogargan and Beerwah are considered the more treacherous and require some climbing ability and scrambling to reach their summits.

I used to go up the East side. And yes, it's a bit problematic if it even drizzles...the lichen becomes very slippery, instantly. If it looked like rain we'd abseil down straight away.

Best laid plans shagged by a Sharpei...

    Post a photo a week, of anything/anywhere-img_20200923_173217_1-jpg

Went for a picnic with a tribal tattooed Maori lady this week and she brought this dog.

It went well and she said she would come over for a BBQ a couple of days later and bring the dog.

I suspected he might prove a distraction to the plan of action so I asked her if she could leave him at home claiming a mild allergy...

But she took unforeseen umbrage at this idea and the BBQ was promptly torpedoed.

    Lesson learned and lady lost.

    Nice dog.

^^ Shame on you trying to deprive the dog his night out for your immoral gains.

Look on a dog as an attribute, not a distraction. Slap some underwear on him and it could have been a night to remember!

^I hear ya Mendip and I certainly deserved the BBQ bums rush for my dastardly mut maligning.

I don't know much about dogs but if I ever did get one I would probably go for one that had a more normal folding down style tail.

The Sharpei has a weird fat little wiggly curly pig's tail curled over its back with its winking arsehole on permanently proud display which I find somehow curiously unappetising.
