The beauty of Pere Lachaise is that it is very peaceful and the people who visit are not dopes. I had conversations with many educated people there quite unlike Place Saint-Michel which seemed to be populated by idiots. The behaviour of some tourists was very bad.

The weather was beautiful and the walk through the cemetery was very relaxing. For others intending to visit I recommend entering the cemetery at Gambetta, as we did, and walking downhill to the main entrance.

I believe he is still there but I made a decision not to visit him. He is near the exit I used but I felt that his grave would be a bit of a let-down. When one has just seen the graves of Oscar Wilde, Edith Piaf and Moliere, Jim has no appeal.

This is my favourite time of the year in the UK. In an ideal world I'd spend October to new year in blighty then bugger off back to the tropics for the remainder.

I like autumn as well great contrast of colour in the countryside.
And no you can't see the sea that picture was taken on a small bridge just outside Alfriston we were coming back from Litlington, that's the River Cuckmere heading towards Arlington.
