i tore the pic out of a passport

whenever i rent a motorcycle, we obviously take the passports as security.
now this guy had rented one of my bikes for a month, but my wife was kind of suspicious of him.
He was supposed to come back after a few days to pick up his passport to do a visa run.

The passport looked mighty hokie to me, old, very full but the weirdest passport pic I have seen.
Also overstayed his visa by 20 days already.

Anyway, i kind of rubbed the picture, and the bastard thing came out.

I went looking for him at his guest house to try and get my bike back, wasn't there, but turned up at my shop in yesterday morning, pretty pissed off that i had torn the pic out, didn't really tear it, more rubbed it skightly and it came out.
looked very much like it had been cut and pasted in.

Anyway, how easy is it do you think for a foreigner to try and sell a motorbike with no ownership, and is it illegal to yank passport pictures out of dodgy looking passports?

I know of a travel agent in CM who rented a car to a German. He never came back and the cops traced the car to a Mafia in green chap in Sattahip. I think the german had been pulling this trick in a few places. The car was never recovered.

Sounds like a very dodgy passport CMN but don't think you are supposed to tamper with anyones passport.

Nothing was under the passport, but I compared it with lots of other UK passports, both old and new and it didn't look right.

The thing is, if it was dodgy, I feel justified and he can hardly go complaining to the authorities.
If it was a good one that was just falling apart, then I feel pretty bad about it.

They have had digital photos since at least 2000 if not 1998 so it must be nearly due up anyway

Mine too DD but there are a surprising range of different passports, even from the UK, depending on the year of issue.
Some are on the very back page next to the hard back, the newer ones are on the inside leaf and you can actually see the pic through the paper.

If he' scottish why would he want to fake a british passport. Unless of course he's overstayed a bit longer than 20 days. Or daft Andy is back in town.

Scottish people have British passports Begbie, as do the Welsh.
