Yes, but bringing that sort of a thing into a discussion is a bit off topic I would say, like comparing the buffalo of history to todays animals and their recovery.
Or comparing my attraction to Asian women as something new to me when I have spent most of my life on the road, so no race of people are NEW or unfamiliar to me.
I use the language of my youth so some call me a racist, when I am actually not and I see no color when I talk to someone, almost anyone is more racist than I when it comes down to race.
I see no color, but I do see ingrained and behavioral patterns and habits of certain races tho.
And people talking of Black OR White when most are neither.

I thought I had been a few places long time ago and Lobster has always been an expensive food and much sought after, even in Maine and Connecticut. as to Diamonds, they are fairly rare and are not found that many places in the world, but you are correct that a marketing strategy is in place, but De Beers do not own the Russian mines nor reserves of diamonds.
Sorry BG but De Beers monopoly of the diamond industry is legendary and undisputed Economics 101 orthodoxy : " De Beers would now focus on adding value--through marketing and branding initiatives--to the diamonds already under its dominion.
The only way to understand the magnitude of this shift is to grasp the degree of the company's dominance. For most of the 20th century, De Beers sold 85% to 90% of the diamonds mined worldwide."

Ahh, OK. But I'd put the bulk of the Chinese in with the Thais (personally).

No doubt, but the Russians have enough diamonds in their vaults if released on the open market they would be the same price as kids marbles.

And so lobsters being plentyful and cheap has never happened in the last 150 years, so it means nothing to me that they used to throw away buffalo meat that would now sell for $14.00 a pound US. either, or That I ate abalone that cost $8.00 a pound in the shop because I could not afford hamburger at 20 cents a pound.

That is the whole point DBs control such a massive share of available diamonds that there is no free market as the minnows are more than happy to have the price of their product artificially inflated so follow DBs strange customs like "sights" where every few months a large quantity of rough diamonds are shown to a choice group of buyers and 100s of millions chnage hands in a couple of hours.

Fair skin was considered more attractive for the same basic reason in Western countries until rather recently, as well as in Japan, until tanning became popular in the West (in the 1950's, maybe?). (Tanning goes through a kind of off and on popularity in Japan.) Similarly, plump was once considered more attractive than slender, and that is an attitude that seems to have held on to a certain degree among some Asian people.

Nevertheless, I think there is another factor at work in Thailand that merges quite with the dark/fair-worker/manager distinction. Colonization, not by whites (obviously) but by Chinese is also part of the equation. The "look" offered up by the advertising and entertainment media in as "modern Thai" is fair-skinned and at least part Chinese. From what I have read and observed, the predominance of fair skinned models and entertainers is a relatively new phenomenon. Much of the population with disposable income in Thailand is composed of urban people with at least some Chinese heritage. In my experience, the prejudice of Chinese-Thais toward darker ethnicities (with the possible exception of Indians) in Thailand runs from a kind of jolly condescension to outright disdain. The ascendancy of China on both the regional and world stages is exacerbating this feeling of superiority.

19th century migrant potato pickers in Maine would be attracted to work with contracts stipulating that they would not be fed lobster more than twice a week. Presumably they weren't given butter with their lobster, so they may have had a point. I like lobster, but I think it is overrated, especially compared to crab or even wild-caught shrimp. And the claws are better (and cheaper!) than the tails.

Yes, you were right and I was wrong, But still DeBeers does buy Russian diamonds at Russias asking price, if they did not then the Ruskies could sure raise hell with their Monopoly.
Which would do no one any good actually..

I was at Seacon Square today and whilst the kids were painting those overpriced clay models I stepped outside for a smoke.

The position I took up was on the Srinakarin Road pedestrian overpass which connects to the second floor arcade and I was amused to watch everyone (man woman and child) step out of the air-conditioned shade of the shopping centre and immediately act like Count Dracula when the sunlight hit them.

They would stop, wince in agony and find something to cover their faces, pull the sleeves over their hands and increase their walking speed twofold so as to get out of the evil sun ASAP.

My wife was quite fair when I married her and my daughter also has quite white skin but now they are both beautifuly tanned which I think is lovely.

With regard to the holy grail of female Asian beauty I still say pink nipples will win top dollars and I have only met a few that has that precious asset!

That is the point why would minor players seek to undercut DBs and collapse the whole market rendering their stock worthless? DBs has a huge monopoly 90% say others collude with DB to make the monopoly total as it is in their best interest

I have lived all over the world for 40+ years and the colour of a ladies skin just adds to the attraction !
The ones that did make me smile though were Korean and Japanese tourists in Taiwan !
My Taiwanese lady had a nice little stall at the Yangminshan National Park outside Taipei
Her mum was a seamstress and whenever a coachload of said tourists arrived in their summer dresses etc, for their organised walk of 2 km to the hot springs ,they would be mobbed by them.
She sold muslim sleeves , huge brimmed hats, and shawls.
Made more than me in a bloody month during the holiday season !!

Getting a bit of tpoic but one instance where black skin is sought after is in the female sex tourist industry. I've heard hushed girlie chats in EFL offices of the fun for the ladies available in Jamacia or Mexico or from friends who have travelled to The Gambia or other small, safe, stable African country where lots of German matrons were getting served by rather shy muscular young black men.

Yeah, there was a programme on British TV a couple of years back about English women flying over to the Caribbean to get shagged by the black guys. It appears that they take care of their guys too....treating them to all sorts. Never heard the word exploitation used though. It was all highly romanticised. It appeared to be perfectly acceptable for women to do this shit....

^ I know this chick from Belgium with a funny story about a good friend of hers. They were touring Africa and forget the country, think it was Kenya, her friend fell in love with a strapping young local lad or 19 (she was 23). One thing led to another and the darky was shipped off to Belgiam to be married, much to the disdain of chick's family.

My friend spoke of the community this bloke came from. The women do all the work and the men sit around getting smashed, fighting, raping kids etc., and when they were living in Belgium he sat at home in a house that the parents owned, doing no house work, refusing to work (no skills and uneducated if he wanted to) and being a general fokwit. She works hard 6 days a week and comes home and cooks and cleans up after her man, The friends and family have tried talking sense into her and she is now estranged from her family but still living in the house.

Her friends have accepted it and don't don't try and interfere anymore. They're women I suppose, who travelled Africa together, so I guess they understand it's that this chick really really loves big black cock. My friend tells me that going to Africa for some cock is the in thing in their area of South Belgium, but that her and her friends were on a 'backpacking tour' together.

So you are saying that the Buck niggers are the same the world over and not just in the places that we hear so much about.

More or less like what is now called "Native Americans" altho they are late comers, same as the rest of the immigrants.

Nothing of value was ever done in that country either til whites became a majority.
