thailandqa although their forum is crap and their bounce rate is horrendous their seo is good.
I was offered money from one site to write travel stuff. Told'em to stick it up their arse as I write Internet stuff for fun ... many moons ago I worked for a Spanish website that paid 40 euros for 400 word articles on technical stuff coming out of Asia. Even if that was 60 Euro these days it wouldn't be worth the money for people who can make their money elsewhere.Originally Posted by dirtydog

I think the being paid to write trend will grow, but do people like ant actually know 1,000 words, if you look at his webcam you can see him moving his lips as he reads thisbut at the moment it seems only the big webmaster forums are willing to pay anything that could be considered a reasonable amount for articles.
Yep the site I was writing for, and we did most of the editing through their CMS, was charging 1000+ euros a year for access to our posts and they had 12,000 odd members. Site was FIS - Worldwide Leader In Seafood Information And Services Since 1995. Terrible payers but could do about 70,000 a month through them, after paying local staff about 15,000 for collecting info etc.
$1,000 per year to find out what sea animals penises taste like? Each to their own I guess![]()
I can write about buckets.............1,000 words, no pleblem!![]()
^Believe it or not there used to be a Thai forum called rubber bucketit then changed to Thaizine.
I shall have you know erectile dysfunction is a real issue in Asia, f'd if I know why given the multitudes of hornbags, but who am I to question the locals forking out shed loads for the local treatments like sea lion dicksOriginally Posted by dirtydog

In that case you are missing a large percentage of what is actually on the forum. And no I don't mean advertisers.Originally Posted by satapadak

I'm helping build up a a Thai regional forum at the moment, now this region is quite small with not that many farangs living or visiting there, I think there are 5 forums already, luckily only one other of them is doing it right in anyway at all so not really any competition.
With all the hits and activity, you should be making a small fortune DD. I guess you're not?
Need to get that advertising revenue going...
All power to you.
I'd be interested to see how many new posts, or new topics, or new replies rather than "hits"
I "hit" a lot of sites, but I close them as fast as I "hit" them as they are complete shite!
It would be interesting to see actual USE of the site.
(not being a TWAT - but in the last few months, the topics and new posts seem to have dropped off a fair bit - it's just opinion, not statistics, I'd love to be proven wrong...it just seems like less people are actually posting anything - apart from the numerous crap posts I make!) Seriously, though, I am quite interested as to how you track this traffic.
I also would like to know how you can predict that next year there will be tourist traffic?
Considering it is down nearly 40% YOY....do you know something I don't? I reckon it is going to get even worse...who the fuck wants to RISK a holiday in this place under the current climate?
New threads I think about 50 perday, posts 1,000+ perday, shall have a check as I haven't bothered looking for probably a year![]()
I asked a while back but no one got back to me (obviously you lot have too much cash) about how to donate 20 bucks or so to the site "WITHOUT" using that fucking pay pal shit...as is advertised on the donations page...that you don't need a pay pal account!
I like this place and would really hate to see it become like Thai visa, please god no....
There was another interesting site, but it seemed to stagnate..Siamexpats.com, and it started getting a bit heavy with bar freaks and pervs.
It would be good for TD to keep on the same "unbiased" free speech lines it currently follows, so if any of the smart arses at TD can tell me how to drop 20 bucks -(without Pay Pal) no Nigerian e mails please, I will gladly pitch in - it would be a great shame to lose a forum as open and diverse as this!
New threads for November.
New posts.

That's exactly right Miggins, most people with families will look around TD to check out the expat view of things on the ground, once they've read what the deal really is they wont risk Thailand at the moment, its way to volatile and it's gonna get worse I'd say.
Thailand is in for harder times for sure.

I wonder when tv last updated their stats, they still beat us hands down on unique visitors, but page views.......
Currently we have around 4,000,000 page views per month and around 400,000 unique visitors per month.
anyway, here is another post for you, DD
