Whatever one may say about Martin personally or about the quality of his food the fact remains his establishment is the only venue in Surin where farang can attend sure in the knowledge they will find some company. Admittedly, many of the bush denizens who congregate there are probably beyond reason and the conversation can lapse accordingly but at least it is a place to meet and booze is booze wherever one goes.
He is to be commended for lasting the course where others have failed miserably.
Anyway, what do people expect in the depths of Isaan. If you want faux cordon bleu cuisine served up by a bisexual Antipodean stick to Bangers and the venues haunted by Fatima Twat and his nancy boyfriends from Adelaide.
Actually, Norbies in Surin serves a lovely pork cordon bleu with roasted potatoes.![]()
There is plenty of company to be found in Surin without the 'aid' of Farang Connection as a 'must' to connect. You'll also find that an overwhelming percentage of his foreign business are travellers and passers-by, as FC is well established and long promoted throughout the expected conduits. The four or five bush residents that make up some sort of regular local market would never allow Martin to stay afloat in a immediate local Farang market that is minimal. The place has always been empty whenever we happen by.
