Good to see that you're up so early to care of it DD
They do that rubbish in Thailand ?

I think Dave needs the extra hour to work it out
I just don't see the sense. If you want extra daylight, do it in winter.
I always hated it, but here is why they say they do it -
Daylight Saving Time = More Evening Daylight
The drive behind the switch was "to adjust daylight hours to when most people are awake and about," Mosley said.
Daylight saving time decreases the amount of daylight in the morning hours, so that more daylight is available during the evening.
Not everyone benefits from the daylight saving time change, Mosley conceded. Farmers and others who rise before dawn may have to operate in the dark a while longer before daybreak.
And some experts suggest that the extended hours implemented in 2007 to save energy won't actually do the trick. That's because people may use more electricity during the darker mornings, canceling out any savings from not using as much power at night.
Daylight saving time, however, can bring many benefits, Mosley said. Research has shown that more available daylight does decrease the number of traffic accidents, traffic fatalities, and incidences of crime.
Sigh....same old story from the DOT. They said the same thing about 55mph. Started out to save energy, then when that fell apart, the tune switched to less accidents, fatalities and so forth. Of course they fail to take into account the increasingly safer autos, better driver education and awareness and increased traffic law enforcement. Truth being that the DOT jealously guards it's territory. Once it has something under it's umbrella it will never let it go. They have been the official keepers of time since the early railroad days when the railroads were the official time keepers. As far as I've been able to ascertain, those that benefit most are the leisure time, retail and oil industries. I'm not sure how it could contribute to lower crime rates. Are they saying since there is daylight later, the criminals have less darkness to operate in? What? They go to bed at the same time at night to get enough sleep in order to go to work in the morning thereby losing that precious hour of criminal activity? In that case, perhaps the time should be moved forward two hours..... 555
Carpe Crustum
get up when it's light.
Start drinking when it gets dark.
Go to sleep when pissed.

What are the farmers bleating on about? They seem to be the main opponents. Why do they worry about daylight saving? If they want to get up when the sun gets up then they should just do it and not worry what time it says on the clock. It's not like they have to be at the office by 9. The cows don't know what time it is.Originally Posted by chitown
And there's not that many farmers anyway so fok them.
^Cows don't know that much about daylight saving....
Just a bit of what you get when the government has their hands in everything.
Most people don't want it, so not sure why it is there. Always confusing and either somebody is late or early to work on the change day.
yeah, throw away your clocks, be free of government interferenceOriginally Posted by chitown
Sunny evenings for a BBQ rock. I wish SE QLD would join in with NSW and VIC. I just flew up here for work this week and it feels like the middle of winter again wandering about in the dark at 6.30
I heard GCCC were thinking of going it alone if the state doesn't join in. Good on em.
Thought you were a Brit DD? we did it last week or do you just think the Septics get more confused about such things?
2008-2009 Daylight Saving Time or Summer Time with map for countries and territories

I used to love daylight saving as a kid, meant you could stay outside and play longer and also unofficially marked start of summer.
if I had to get up in the dark, I wouldn't
Err what month is it?
The clocks in the Uk changed last weekend.
