    More PC Madness.

I ask you, what's the world coming to?
WAIAU, New Zealand, Oct. 22 (UPI) -- A New Zealand town has canceled its annual dead rabbit-tossing contest for children following protests from animal welfare advocates.
The "Rabbit Throw" has been a tradition in the town of Waiau, which has a population of about 400 people, for years, but town officials said this year's event has been dropped, the Australian Broadcasting Corp. reported Thursday.
The decision came after criticism from the Royal New Zealand Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Charles Cadwallader, an animal cruelty inspector with the charity, said throwing dead rabbits around for fun is disgusting.
"Do you throw your dead grandmother around for a joke at her funeral?" he asked.
However, some locals said they were disappointed by the decision to cancel the event. Jo Moriarty, organizer of a massive pig hunt in the town, attributed the move to political correctness.
"You know, the children of the community here are fantastic, they love their animals," he said.

Call it what you like but the analogy made is absurd.

^I agree with that, it's really quite ridiculous.

Still trying to figure how this relates to some apparently notional and arbitrary concept of "PC" though.

Jo seems to think it's PC. Worried it will be a precedent to screw up her massive pig hunt.

It's 'pc' because they're trying to deprive some kids of their entertainment because it might offend some vegetarian hippie.
They BIG question is where do they get all the dead rabbits from.
Are there rabbits just lying around for the picking up or what?

It's only 'depriving' them if going around throwing dead rabbits is a common, normal, everyday childhood pastime. In my experience it's not and commonsense rather than some arbitrary 'PC' should be able to explain why it isn't and also why it shouldn't be.

Otherwise you might as well blame the strict gun-control and licensing laws as being 'PC' in depriving children entertainment from getting their hands on guns - not the best analogy admittedly but the point stands.

    They'd be from a cull I'm guessing.

You can't expect some small 9 year old child to toss a 60 kilo dead rottie can you.

No, of course not. The little kids could start off with terriers or perhaps some dead puppies of the larger breeds.

If the veggie Mafia are behind it, why not really piss them off and have a 'cabbage chuck' instead ??

Or would the carnivores say that is cruel to the bloody brassica!

I agree that throwing dead rabbits is very boring. Throwing live ones would be much better, and extra points could be scored if the bunny could limp away afterwards

You would describe Australians as fluffy and cuddly?
Whatever floats your boat I suppose.

Agree not the best analogy. Is it common for kiwi kids to play with toy guns or are they banned as well. Would much rather have my kid tossing a rabbit than playing with plastic killing replicas. Is tossing midgets/dwarfs OK in kiwi land?

It's always advisable to ask them first or you'll be done for sexual assault or some such thing.

I think dead cats would be better for the little darlings, at least with a cat they have a nice long tail you can grab hold of to give it a good swing.
Plus they can stick fireworks up the cats arse to give it more effect

If they are already dead then they cant press charges.
It should be OK unless some do-gooder family member comes up with crap about interfering with a corpse.

I still think dead puppies would be more suitable as if you can get them before they go stiff they will give that last little whimper sound as they hit the ground and the air is expelled from thier lungs. Well, maybe not exactly a whimper, more like a groan. But still very entertaining for the kids.
