I was speaking figueratively, sir.
I know he's actually alive.
Hard to notice the difference, though.

Trink made the mistake when he left the Post of charging a subscription for his spin-off site.
Fatal. In those days (and it still largely applies today) people won't pay for content unless porno.
^He should do something in the stickman vein, weekly column, few adverts, pretty sure he could do it better than an engrish teecher.
Most of his column was just cut & pastes of things his readers had sent in. Hardly ever an original thought or opinion of anything.
Stickman did it better, and online, and for free.
The Bangkok World was one of those maverick publications {60's & 70's} that sought out a reputation for independent and investigative journalism. Especially during the American war years as well as the turbulent Thai domestic periods.....unlike a number of surface mainstream info sources that succumb to the establishment, the BKK World was a dissenting beacon {for it's time}.
Trink was an institution, hard to judge his column by the standards of today, they were a reflection of a different time and Trink's writing style was a reflection of a different era as well, but Trink was able to make a living for YEARS doing little more than trolling bars and writing a short column. Sweet deal. Last time I saw him around around was 3 or 4 years ago at the Fourth of July celebration at NIST.
Come on admit it, how many of you old timers were hoping Trink would kick the bucket and you could replace him?

I for one used to look forward to the Nite Owl. Did for a fair few year. Once he went to half a page it was all over. Funny watching new arrivals fighting over that section of the paper.
