    Calm down........

Get your self a nice long shoe string.

    Find a cupboard.

    Strip naked..............

    Lock yourself inside said cupboard.............

Tie your cock to your neck....................

    Tie your hands together........................

    Breathe deeply..............

Is it really that important ??????????????????????

Om Mani padni Om and all that shit.

hey it's not all that bad, at least you were not caught with a Bar Mat in your handbag!

But then again, I think there is some kind of Association of Ferang Bar Owners..which has an affiliate with the Katoeys of Sukumvit... They just do their job to take money from stupid ferang.. both scenarios best to avoid them.

Conspiracy... nah just a con another 20 baht

    It's a lot... 2.60 a bottle.
I get fed up paying that in a bar the UK, you shouldn't have to pay it in Thailand.

You can't just convert it back into sterling unless thats where you cash is coming from. The exchange rate is crap at the moment.

Drinking habits have been changing within the expat community up here in Nong Khai - the falang bars have been charging silly prices for beers for quite some time now. I had a mate come up from Khon Kaen for the weekend and we went to what was once the most popular falang restaurant/bar on the river front. He couldn't believe the price of beers for an 'un-airconditioned mossie shack'. Two buildings along you could sit in a Thai place, with a better view of the river, have the same beer for 30 baht less and be bitten by the same amount of mossies.

What is the reasoning behind the often 100% mark-up in bars? Some owners have stated the extra overheads on the imported food side but their meal prices already reflect that, so why pass on the cost to the drinking customers? Another thing, which quite frankly stinks of ripping off the falang, is the price of Thai food in these western establishments. How can they charge 30 to 40% more than the Thai run establishments?

Just what are the extra overheads that demand such price hikes over Thai-customer based establishments?

^ If that's the case, the amount of bar failures in Nong Khai would mean there are a lot of unhappy Thai wives up here!

A very valid point GP, we are quite happy to jump at every opportunity to accuse Thai's of ripping us off but around here I see more evidence of farangs rorting their own kind, than Thais.

In Udon you can go to any number of "farang" eating establishments that will quite happily charge you more than double the same amount for the equivalent Thai food, and usually sucks the red knob because they make it for "farang taste" which here means pommy or Herman taste i.e no taste.

It may have changed in recent Times,as its some years that I have eaten Thai (or any) food at a Farang type restaurant, there are just too many good Thai places to choose from.

In fact the only farang food restaurant I have eaten recently was in NK, the Thai guy ( somewhere opposite the rail station) smuggles good Aust / NZ beef / wine from Lao and it rocks, at half the price of the farang restaurants.
