To wii or not to wii

So I am thinking of buying a new console soon.

I am a big fan of play-station but have heard that the wii is good as well. Does anybody know if PS3's or wii's are "chip-able" as with the PS2 because I'd rather not have to pay extortionate money for each game. And are games readily available in Bangkok for either console?

Does anybody here have either?.......

Which one should I buy?

PS3 everytime. The games are pricey but they're top notch. At the moment I'm playing Midnight Club L.A. I've never played a racing game like this before (Except for the ps2 version) that gives you an adrenalin rush like a mo fo.

the wii is chippable - but you have to be careful that an update does not brick your device.

I have one that does not get used so often - very hard to remove the thai telvision programs from the big screen for long enough.
I am thinking about going the homebrew route on it to make it a little more versatile.

go to TV and the comp section and search for your wii there as there are a few discussions about it.

Nah you cant chip it. You can get second hand games from MBK though at about 1000bt.

The wii's fun too but I got bored of it pretty quick and it does remind you the next morning how un fit you are when your arm aches after a night on Tiger Woods.

I know what you mean, I've had a three-year old crying because none of the four grown men playing on his Wii would give him a controller back

It's still a kid's option over a PS3 though.
