    Sometimes this place stinks...

Gotta admit, there are some pretty horrendous odours round here.. Proper, being sick in yer mouth stuff.

Upon arriving, I thought the worst smell was my..

...after walking around Bangkok for half an hour or so..

    Then I stumbled upon this..

..which now seems to be part of everyday life..

Moving into a soi, I discovered people doing this...

....and my nasal hairs stood up and weathered away.

But to my horror....I've come upon this....

....which could only be described as an ingredient of the devil's deoderant..

Yuo really shouldn't post pictures like these..the Tourist "Authority" of Thailand does not approve...it paints a negative picture on this most "wholesome" country!

I liked the one with the turtle, if it had been a little larger, it would have made a perfect lid for the bin!

    Good one!

For sure, each to their own..personally made me gag. One inadvertant spoonful of a cha om laced omelette cost me 500bt in mouthwash.

Ask to have a look and see Bah-la. Some fermented fish shit, it looks and smells like raw sewage and they love it. I can taste even a trace of it in any food and will reject it outright much to the amusement of the locals.

"farang mai chop gin bah-lah ler!"

    Too bloody right.

Used to make my son puke every time the mrs dragged him past it in the market, so she had to buy him a bar of soap each time she went shopping which he would stick under his nose. Always had loads of soap in the house!

The whole country stinks to high heaven and thais don't give a shit. If I get a bit niffy from actually walking somewhere, they all sniff at me and look at me like I'm scum.

    Where's the justice there then?

On a sweltering hot day the absolute worst is the smell of freshy laid thai turds eminating from the open drain just below street level.

Nothing like that squid they cook over an open fire to get your nose senses racing.

You can smell that shit cooking 200 metres away and if the wind is blowing in the right/wrong direction.

We had a pig farm up the road, fortunately finished but with the right breeze it was like living in one long fart bubble, I actually thought I was being punished for letting one rip every morning before getting up. Thankfully it wasn't prevailing winds.

^^ Yes, the squidman can be smelt from some distance away, polluting the air with his odouress wares...

Quite like the dried stuff though, with a chilli dip.

And even worse,…………after a good rain and some of the streets get flooded (the stench), the kids are out playing in that (filthy) water. God forbid if they found out how fun skimbroads were.

People's breath . . . I had a secretary whose breath could kill at ten paces . . . my foreman had some nasty-arse dental work done when working for a German company decades earlier, never kept it up and the rotting teeth combined well with the smelly shit they eat . . .

We have one next door {Chinese-Khmer}. One never becomes numb to the fact and builds a breeze retaining wall....even though ours isn't of the prevailing winds as well.

I've been on the back of a few motorbike taxis whose driver is a bit ripe.

You can't really blame them though, if I was sat in the sun fully dressed all day then I would be minging.

Some many years ago, when residing in Sukhothai, the unpleasant aroma of a naam pla production facility was the order of the day.
