    Stung.

Got stung yesterday on the wrist by a wasp/hornet like insect. It just darted out, stung me & went back to the paper nest it was building very close to where I was repairing a fence. Needless to say, being the kind soul I am, I nuked the bastards with Baygon & destroyed the nest.

Anyway, it was very painful for a short time (more painful than an English wasp sting) but the pain died down very quickly. Today, though, I have a large red lump (about 2 inches in diameter & hard) where I was stung. Have even had to remove my watch. It looked like a large wasp or hornet, but was black with a couple of vertical stripes. Anyone had any experience of these? Are these inflamations normal after being stung by them?

What is the worst thing you've been stung by in Thailand and what was your experience?

I have been stung by the same creatues on my arms when doing the gardening and they are called "Doowr" and if attacked in a swarm their mulitple stings could be fatal.

Because I did not remove the sting I have small hard lumps on my arms "and in the area of the sting" and my wife suggests you go to the clinic and have the sting removed.

    Take care NR.

Didn't realise there was a sting left in me. I couldn't feel or see one.

Probably, but I never use stuff like that. I never think about it. Did think of vinegar, but couldn't remember if that was for wasps or bees.

Unlike {some varieties} bees, wasp and hornets don't leave a barbed calling card embedded. Some do of course, but as a rule these varmits are capable of multi-stings without effort and go on their happy ways. Some bees have this ability. But for the most part when bees sting, they leave half their guts with the barb. Therefore passing on.....

Anti histamine cream or tabs, and brufen for swelling.

Cup of tea and a lie down.

Stand in a bucket of urine for 10 minutes twice a day.

    Algipaan and dark glasses.

You need to take some anti-histamine for a couple of days, not big on popping pills but help your body get over the reaction quickly.
I got bitten by 19 wasps 3 months or so ago
First thing the hospital did was inject anti-histamine..........

Are you sure you're not my Dad? He used to have remedies like that. Germolene on everything and Night Nurse to drink cured all.
