Thread: A Sweet Story

I'm sure i'll get a ribbing for posting this but this story touched a soft spot in me.

My GF lives in Pinklao, in an area accessible only by foot or motorbike. the sort of neighborhood where you would find middle class living next to the dirt poor. a typical suburban thai neighborhood.
anyway, my GF's grandmother passed away about 6 months ago. during her last 12 months she used a walker to get around.
last week, an elderly man from down the road had his daughter walk him over to my GF's house. with tears in his eyes he offered his condolences to the family and humbly asked if the walker was being used. he explained that he has not been mobile for nearly 2 years and that the walker would go to good use. my GF's mom gave him the walker as she knew the man's financial and physical situation. she also saw that this was not a scam or in anyway someone looking for a handout, instead just someone desperate enough to swallow his pride and ask for help.

my GF works irregular hours at her office. some nights she doesn't return home until 10 or 11pm. she noticed that since her family gave the walker to this man, he waits up every night without fail to look over her while she walks home from the parking lot. in his own way repaying them for the gift.

maybe just me but i found this story to be extremely sweet.

Yes its always nice to share a good experience with others and thanks for bringing your obvious happiness to this forum.

Amongst all the shit that is going on at the moment it's refreshing to know there are still some nice people out there.

Some Thais are soo lovely. I lived in the "jungle" near one village, with neighbours scattered about largely unseen. After I'd been there a few months they adopted me. One friend showed up at my place when I was out, and the coconut man came out with a machete, asking her business. I always gave them fruit from my yard and invited them over when I had parties. American chili went down well with them.

I really appreciate the story, but actually I find it quite sad, in that the old man had no option, until the grandmother passed away.

Great story. Very touching.

i find it sad as well that he had limited options. heart warming though, to hear of people lending a hand to those in need.

It's just nice to hear a positive story! Not many lately.

I gave my old motorcross helmet to the guy that just brought a dirt bike for 6 cans of leo cause I am such a nice guy
