Brits Getting shafted on beer prices

Last night I wandered into 7 to get some of my usual tipple Leo beer.

Well fcuk my old boots look at the price

48 baht for a big bottle!

4 years ago 1 pound got you 72 baht and big bottle of leo in 7 was about 38 baht, which was 53p in them days.

Today, with that same bottle costing 48 baht, the pound now giving you 54 baht it means the Leo is now 89 pence.

    Thats a 68% increase in 4 years!

Anyways I thought fuck it I'll try a few Changs instead at 38 baht which is priced 23% less than Leo. I also notice that Chang is 6.4% alcohol compared to Leo's 5% Thats about 23% as well.

I figure you can get pissed 23% faster for 23% less by drinking Chang, so its bye-bye Leo, hello Chang

I had a look back at the for-ex rates for the Dollar and Euro and you guys are doing much better that us Brits, we really have had the rough end of a pineapple shoved up our jacksies

So whats the point of this thread?

I just wanted to say "fuck you and the foking donkey you rode in on" to Gordon Brown and all those cnuts that have destroyed sterling while they have been in power

All those in agreement, say "aye"

Think Archa is 27 or 28bt in Tesco, too. So still quite cheap.

you shouldn't be worried about the price of beers, check your other expenses and then you will be really surprised

my cost have gone 100% over the last 5 years for basic expenses,

Kao Pat Kai: from 35THB to 80THB
Rent: from 40,000 THB to 75,000 THB (when I used to rent)
    Grocery: from 1,500THB a week to 3,500THB a week

    Whoring: from 100THB a drink + 400THB barfine to 150THB + 600 THB barfine

    etc... etc...

I get paid in Baht, so I only had to put up with a 25%ish increase.

The local 'pub' still sells it for 70B a bottle, so it's all good.

I and (and others I think) are interested in your take on Udon.

And yeah, reduced expenses like that are a good thing!

Bullshit Butty, you don't know What you speak,

A small selection of Udon activities,

!. sitting on the steps of the local shopping mall with all the geriatrics slavering over school girls.

    2. Sitting in a crappy bar drinking crap beer and talking with your imaginary friend about the good old days in the SAS.

    3. Going to the local fishing park of which there are many.

    4. Playing golf and getting a hand job from the caddy in the bushes after wards for 200 Bt.

5 drinking at the local shop while practicing your pigeon English with the local maidens, "You want sit my face, 200 Bt Ok?"

Farang Alley has gone, but we've got two new bar areas now. Day & Night (which is dying on its arse) and Nutty Park (which is OK once a month or so).

Not quite sure I get this. Are you paid in sterling? If not, why does this bother you?

^ I have income in sterling and U$D. One day, a pension will be based in sterling, if the current rate continues, by the time that pension kicks in in 30 years a bottle of beer is all it will pay for each month. Thats why it bothers me.

You reckon the Drinkers have been shafted.
Spare a thought for the smokers.

We're planting some tobacco up here. I'm gonna look long term into making my own cider too.

Good luck with that it should be a lot better to smoke before tobacco company's get their hands on it and fill it with chemicals, all you need is a young Cuban Lady to come over and show how to make cigars rolling the tobacco on her long golden brown ......

Happily (or not) the recent tax hike coincided with having to knock the boozing on the head due to health reasons. Timing, as they say, is everything.

Anyway this looks like a poor attempt at mimicking the ahead-of-its-time 'Rip-Off Thailand thread...

Noooo, that thread was all about the high cost of imports, this threads about important stuff like the price of beer for uk expats living here on pensions. Besides, that thread died because its author vanished. I think he was taken away by men in white coats
