    Naked Truth

Tourist figures are down across Thailand. Do they have a plan 'D', or some kind of secret weapon to turn it around? Maybe need a new poster girl.

Sure, in typical bizzaro Thai logic, business is down so:

    1. Make it harder to get a visa and stay in Thailand
    2. Raise prices
    3. Let the fuckwit reds, yellows & blues take over any facility they wish
    4. Suppress medical findings of all tourists who die in the Kingdom
    5. Destroy what little faith foreign leaders have in the stability of Thailand by allowing the ASEAN summit to be overrun by said fuckwits
    6. The last item on their 'Plan D' is to get a clue as to what makes the world go round...

I could go on, but what's the point...
Give a man a match, and he'll be warm for a minute, but set him on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

They are trying out a new plan in Phuket.
Immigration are querying passports and forcing tourists to stay an extra 3 months to boost tourism.
At the moment it is only tourists with a nice tan that are affected but if successful the scheme will be expanded to cover all tourists.

    yep, the "Bangkok cocktail"

similar to a Molotov cocktail but without any flames

    and the "Pattaya cocktail"

similar to a "Long Screw up Against the Wall" but shorter

    and the "Chiang Mai cocktail"

similar to a glass of water

Raise prices on everything to make up for the shortfalls.

Rob the rich (farang) and keep for themselves and let the poor get poorer!

Many of the tourists that come her or not make their choices based on communications with the Expats living here. So for sure it is a good program for tourist prevention that implements rediculous and stone age processes for Expat VISA extensions.
The last change is not only a huge handicap for expats but also is a contributor to fuel consumption since so much driving is now required to get your visa extensions completed. Why in the days of electronics do we take a step backward and insist that expats drive all over the country to comply with the visa requirements.
Plan "E" should be implemented at once and that is to make it simple to legally get visa extensions and remain in country for expats. They in turn will make positive comments to friends considering a trip and result in a more comfortable decision for possible tourists.

So instead of making it as tough as you can for Expats change a little and set the plan to make is as easy as you can for Expats. Bound to have a favorable impact on tourism.
