    Bob Dylan no. 1.

    Are you shitting me?
Bob Dylan freewheels to No.1 with Together Through Life

    Article from: Agence France-Presse
    From correspondents in London
    May 04, 2009 05:22am

BOB Dylan has jumped to the top of Britain's album charts, almost 40 years since he last held the No.1 slot.
Together Through Life, Dylan's 33rd studio album which was released in Britain on April 28, went in straight at number one, the Official Charts Company said.
He last claimed the top slot in 1970 when New Morning was released in October and reached No.1 on November 28.
Dylan's latest chart-topper is his seventh top-selling record in Britain, with The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan the first to win that accolade in 1964.
"Dylan is arguably our greatest cultural icon, and his words and music remain as relevant and as powerful today as they did five decades ago," said Gennaro Castaldo of music retail giant HMV.
"His albums always sell consistently well, but with demand for his catalogue of recordings up significantly in recent months, it's evident that Dylan is going through one of his zeitgeist moments, as a new generation of fans join his more established followers in appreciating his musical legacy."

He's got a ready made market, all aging rapidly.
I went to one of his concerts a few year back... we danced in the aisles, we rushed the stage... bemused youthful security persons led us gently back to our seats.

Thats a matter of opinion and taste in music,, I used to drive an ERF lorry with a cummins engine , complete with a straight through exhaust that delivered about 1 million decibels of noise under the cab and another 2 million inside it , and quite honestly I would rather listen to 10 hours of that than any of Dylans inane droning .
I aint no teenager and was brought up on the Floyd , Hendrix , etc.

I have never sat down and played one of his own tracks out of choice.

But when it comes to songwriting I simply love his work.

I think he never really wanted to be a performer and has always considered himself as a poet.

All along the Watch Tower still remains one of my favourite Dylan songs.

I've never understood a word that he sings sounds like his chewing on a peanut butter sandwich.

I prefer Leonard Cohen, but Dylan certainly wrote some great songs.

To see Dylan in concert sort of made me want to go and slash my wrists. The foking tosser walked on stage didn't say shit, mumbled through his set, introduced the band half way through and the fuked off.

    Coont he was.

Foking hated him for that piss poor effort, he just scammed every bastard for there money and needed to be buggered with a broken beer bottle for his pathetic effort.

    Anyway rant over.

I think he was notorious for those kinds of performances. Often playing with his back to the audience and stuff. Don't really understand that myself. What is he trying to say?

I just DL'd the new one. I hope it grows on you as it doesn't make much of an impact on the first listen.

    I loved his 1992 album

it's his first album in years on which he didn't write the vast majority of the songs.....they were written by the grateful dead's lyricist, robert hunter.

dylan produced the album under the pseudonym 'jack frost'.

btw, dylan does at least 100 shows/year...every year. if you experienced a bad one, try again.

I went in '98 and while it wasn't bad, it fell into the been there done that category. Only 70 bucks back then.
On the plus side, Patti Smith opened the show and brought the house down... That is the rockingest woman ever!

Not a good clip but all I could find...
And the end of the fight is a tombstone white with the name of the late deceased,
And the epitaph drear: "A Fool lies here who tried to hustle the East.
