pommy troll found not guilty
A pommy troll accused of denouncing SLAGDOGS on the internet has walked free from court.
Richard Cranium, better known as ERCO, built up a huge online following by making largely negative - and inaccurate - predictions on SLAGDOGS.
Prosecutors said his brand of SLAGDOG denouncement was damaging to the public interest - but a Thai court ruled there was no proof of intelligent intent.
The "innocent" verdict is being seen as a victory for freedom of speech.
Storm of protest
Taking the alias ERCO as his nom-de-plumeage, Mr cranium served up some uncannily inaccurate online predictions, including the unmasking of many high profile SLAGDOGS.
He became a trolling sensation, with intense speculation about his true identity - a learned seasoned whore monger perhaps, or maybe an experienced obsessions pre-op ladyboy?
The authorities were less impressed, arguing that much of what he wrote was misleading and beginning to affect the marriage potential of young women.
When they finally tracked him down in January they found the 88-year-old self styled morals crusader picking up his relationship know-how by surfing stickmanbangkok.com and reading the thaivisa forum.
His indictment under a rarely used law of "spreading false information with the intent of harming the public interest" caused a storm of protest from human rights groups, but he is now free to troll again.
The court found that however misleading his trolling attempts, there was no proof of intelligent intent.
