    Disabled 'dress-up' day called off

Posted 2 hours 46 minutes ago
The principal of Ramco primary school in the Riverland says no offence was intended by its Disability Day fundraiser.
Barrey Niven says years five and six students came up with the idea of dressing as someone with a disability to raise money for a medical clinic in Bangladesh.
Mr Niven says the fundraiser was cancelled immediately when concern was raised by the school community.
"I was contacted by some members of our school community thinking that that may result in ridicule of people with disabilities and maybe was downplaying [them]," he said.
"I accept that point of view and, in some discussions with the students they were very sorry that they've offended anybody and that anybody would think they were trying to ridicule people with disabilities."

I can't see what the problem was. You see disabled people all the time there.

^^ Yeah, 'blind' was the only 'disability' I could think of where it could be shown in dress. That or really bad fashion sense...
