Strange ideas you had as a small child.

As a small kid, I used to love watching Westerns on the telly on a Sunday afternoon.
You would always see one of these windmills on a ranch in the movie at some time.

As a small kid, I thought that a very large Indian had shot a very large arrow into the back of the windmill.
This Indian got about a bit as well as he seemed to have shot every windmill in every Western I ever saw.

Another weird thought (yes, I was a weird kid).

On the way to school, I would pass several office blocks and there would always be a huge TO LET sign.
I thought there was some guy who couldn't spell toilet correctly and I was puzzled as to why he would want to tell everyone that there was a toilet on the 5th floor.
This guy also got around as he always miss-spelled the word no matter which block of offices I saw the sign on.

Anybody else hold some strange ideas when they were very young?

I had a lot of strange ideas as a child. Or, perhaps they weren't that strange, but normal ideas that kiddies have.

    I've forgotten most of them.

Except for the wanting to be a pro baseball player and banging Farah Fawcett in her prime, when she starred in Charlie's Angels.

Rummaging around in my parent's bedroom when they were out and finding what I thought were packets of chewing gum.
Opened them up and found that they were greasy balloons and wondering why I wasn't given any.

I remember when young sissy grabbed some condoms in a store, and said "Cool. Look at these balloons. Let's get them."

When I was about 6 I had to go to Sunday School and always say the Lords Prayer, the bit about Forgive us our Trespasses I always thought it was about straying onto private land, ( there was a sign nearby on some land saying NO TRESPASSING by order)

Yes, we had to recite the Lord's Prayer every morning at Assembly.
I always thought that Hello was a funny name for God to choose as in "Hello be thy name".

Just about dusk when the moon is visible while the sun is still out . . . I thought it was the sun's bum. I now know this to not be the case as the sun is Asian and has no bum.

True story . . . well, the first part

When the Door's song "light My Fire" was a hit I thought the line "Try to set the night of fire" was "Try to set the night on my girl". I was too young to know much about that, but even then it sounded like a rather good idea.

I remember at the NCO club where I'd hang out with my dad drinkin soda pop and cadging nickles for a bag of BBQ Potato Chips when I could, they had this vending machine with the name, "Golden Coins" emblazoned across the white painted metal in big golden letters. Beneath the name was the phrase, "Knock out VD!" in bright red and the price, "3 for 25¢."

I'd look at that "Knock out VD!" and think how cool it woud be to have some knockout drops. So me an this other kid, we cadged afew nickles, and didn't eat no chips for three whole days. We pooled our money and got a quater from the bartender. The other kid was the lookout while I went in a made the purchase.

We ran out the back to where creek was, ripped into that little cardboard packet. Three giant fuckin ballons, indiviually wrapped. They weren't even greasy. But they held a lot of water, hard as hell to throw. 25¢ and all we got were three giant water ballons that popped and pissed all over you when you tried to throw 'em. Shit we coulda bought five bags of BBQ Potato Chips with that money.

I thought Mr. T possessed superhuman strength. It was a sad day when my father told me that Mr. T was a mere mortal, no more capable of throwing our station wagon over the house than I was.

There was some hymn or song that went "...and I am the lord of the dance, said he" and I always wondered what a "dance settee" was

I thought that if I closed my eyes and concentrated hard enough that I'd be able to levitate. Even had myself convinced that it was working.

I wanted to join a circus. Not any old circus, mind you. But a crumblimg, crooked, broken-down 10-member New Zealand family circus with animals and everything.

I thought that God looked like Uncle Ben off the rice packets.

And he may well do. I cannot prove or disprove this one.
