    Thumbs down Bank Haters?

How about posting your "I Hate Banks" remarks here?

I shall be first, I fcukin hate, with a passion HSBC, late yesterday they confirmed they would be willing to trace money that they charged me $65 to transfer, for a fee of $49. (After waiting three days for a reply) The money was sent to a Thai bank, they appear to have lost it? probably due to the holidays? Twats!

Trying to contact HSBC bank by mail during the weekend appears to be impossible. Sure can phone, if I can get a line, and would like to join cues and listen to machines babbling
I joined this bank about three years ago, as all services were free, slowly over the years they have "increased" their prices, without informing you - off course! First transfers were charged at $30 +, then to $65 +, no notification required - Twats!

Then you notice that ATM withdrawals, that were free, no longer are, now $7 dollar plus for each 20k baht, thanks for telling us - Twats.

Have gradually found ways to minimisethe use of their services by using FX companies to transfer cash. Faster, cheaper. I brought a big safe in which I keep my dosh. I use a building society in Aust, good cheap and almost no fees. Best of all I got the bank That rorted me silly for 20 years In Aust by maxing out their credit card and then telling them to fvck off, surprising how easily they give up chasing the money. I have never ripped off anyone before but these pricks are just a bunch of corporate swindlers, so thats all right. Stick it up the bastards.

I'm sure you have heard the saying

'Small crooks rob banks - big crooks own them.'

HSBC are crap in the UK as well; when will they start employing people that don't think they are doing me a favour by holding my money.

HSBC is one of the most profitable bank in the world. They are so profitable than they bought out a number of other big bank in Europe. It's called consolidation. It's very convenient. You take over a competitor, and as competition becomes less, you can charge more. At the end, they all suck.

I used to be with UBS for 12 years, and one day they decided I wasn't profitable enough for them (charging me annual fees of 1500 US$ per year was not profitable enough) and then they proceeded to kick me out. Because I didn't leave immediately, they cancelled ALL my credit cards without warnings while I was on a business trip. Very convenient. I hate the fuckers.

The wife went down to start a new account and the fuckers spelt her last name completely wrong and refused to re-do the account in her real name and tried to fog her off with some bullshit about not using the letter G in there computer so they used K instead ?? was probably stuffed. Told her to cancel the account and we will not be using Bank Bangkok again fucking unbelivable

Bangkok has probably one of the worst banking system, but again it's a third world country. Even in Europe it's bad, poor customer service, overcharge etc... they don't fucking care. The banking industry has changed dramatically over the last 15 years. They are trying to run them like they were call centers and yes they don't care about your fucking money, they have too much of it already and it's costly for them to maintain all those numbers.

I lived in Manilla some years back, went to Citibank with USD 5k in cash to open an account, "sorry Sir we don't accept cash"
Never did work that one out, would like to say that I never opened an account there either, but eventually did - It was interesting!

bringing cash to a bank make them panic. Yes I know strange. Like I said the banking industry is not what it used to. Now it's run by company drones who don't give a shit. They don't manage your money, they manage account numbers. Better put your money at the Post Office Bank and avoid the assholes. The other solution is to go with private banking, but you need at least $1m to be a credible client

So which bank would you trust in Thailand?

I personally would prefer TMB but just because I think it sounds cool.

Kasikorn Bank have always been good to me. Their staff are always polite and do their work well.

I like the fact that you can transfer money via an ATM machine and that deposits and transfers are in your account pretty much immediately. For a low level bank user such as myself, I prefer it to the UK style of banking where they hang onto your money for a few days so they can earn interest from you.

Today, bless them, my lovely bank decided to reply to my query that is only five days old.
They informed me that funds can take 7 days!
The fact funds were transfered 17 days ago was not mentioned

After a mere 21 days do I have closure on this small matter, do I have any money in my bank account in Thailand? There is a short answer to these questions NO, simply because HSBC are challenging to deal with!

I got the email address of complaints department in UK and wrote to them, they refuse to accept my complaint, returned! I have to complain to my own "branch" being internet bank there is no one you can complain too, It appears!

I have Internet banking with Krung Thai bank. They're great. I used to get interest on my savings account. Then one year I noticed they had retracted the interest that they had just given me - only about 1,500 baht, but even so, I wanted to know why.

So I called them and they told me - "Because you are farang and we shouldn't have given you the interest in the first place".

Thanks so much for being honest.

    Racist bastards.

Yes, their change-over to a new web-site was farcical. They sent me several emails telling me how wonderful it was going to be, and then when the day came, it didn't work. So after I sent them an email saying it didn't work, they responded with:

    Dear Sir / Madam,

According to the development of our Internet Banking System (known as KTB Online) which was already implemented on February 14, 2006. We, Krung Thai Bank PCL., are unable to complete the migration on your information. Thus, for your convenience, please kindly use our existing Internet Banking service instead. Steps as follows:
    1. Go to KTB Website www.ktb.co.th , then KTB Sm@rt Banking.
    2. Under Internet Banking, select Corporate Online
    3. Log in with User ID and password used for our Internet Banking (Old Version)

Should you require further information or any assistance blah blah blah...
Maybe this'll work for you, too - why not give it a try?

But when I was in Bangkok recently, I went to their Sukh soi 3 head office (Nana Nua) and they sorted it all out. Two very nice girls even gave me a demo (of the new system) and let me play with it (the new system) on their free Internet terminal.

After a mere three weeks money has been returned to my account "invalid beneficiary" the fact that I had made another transfer using identical method last week that cleared in three days seems to have escaped them!
They did off course deduct $47 plus the original $38
